FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER - NUACHLITIR FEABHRA

60th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS:  Absolutely brilliant concert in the Couper Institute. Pity some band members didn't turn up. Our tutors were outstanding. The Macalla project was the most ambitious project the branch has ever taken on. A full house of 450 people attended the dinner in the Kerrydale Suite at Parkhead and we were treated to an unbelievable performance by the orchestra, the singers and narrators making it a truly unforgettable evening. We should all be immensely proud of each and every one of them.

60th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS PART 2: Celtic Connections had us in the new auditorium at the Concert Hall. The concert was sold out in 3 weeks. What a show! Our U15's, Mike McGoldrick and John Doyle, Roisin Anne and Johnny, Tadgh, Paddy and Draoicht. Macalla took up the second half and once again thrilled the audience. What an incredible atmosphere. Our thanks must go to Roisin Anne and Paddy for their efforts and expertise in bringing all of this to fruition, but above all, to Michael Rooney, for composing such wonderful music and giving us so much of his time. CD's of the full Macalla will be on sale for a few Tuesdays, as will copies of the souvenir programme.

NO CLASSES FROM NOW ON: Band practise start tonight. The U12D band is for those who were unsuccessful in U12C auditions. It is also for any other non-beginners who know the tunes (Lucy Farr's & Maggie in the Woods). U12E is for those who do not know U12D tunes and also the beginners. Frank will take U18 auditions from 7pm tonight.
GLASGOW FEIS: Sunday, 26th February in Woodfarm. Solos at 10am Bands at 1pm.

ST. PATRICK'S NIGHT CEILI:  Will be on Friday 17th March in the Couper Institute, 8-11pm. Children's ceili 7-8pm. This is always a great nights fun for all of the family.

PRIVATE TUITION:  There are a number of our pupils who have a tutor for their own particular instrument. This is an extremely worthwhile exercise , especially at this time when the regular classes are stopping. Anyone seeking advice in this area should speak to Frank or to your child’s own tutor in class.

SEAN NOS DANCING Following the success of the workshops, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in learning a few more steps. If numbers were sufficient we could hopefully get a class together and practise for an hour on a Tuesday night. If interested can you speak to myself or Geraldine McGuire tonight or email me with your name. Thank you.
