In Memory of
Anthony Giarratano
1955-2019

DeBows mourns the passing of Anthony, a beloved member of our church family, known for his Christian witness and love of music.  His funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr funeral home on Monday, February 18, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan, NJ.  You may click here to read Anthony's obituary.  Anthony will be remembered fondly in our community of faith.  In honor of Anthony, fellow band member, Roger Cregle wrote the following song, which he performed during the worship service on Sunday, February 17.

"Home, Where I Belong”

I’m no longer tired, and all my pain is gone
the sun is shining, and Oh! I feel so strong
I’m with the Holy Father, and his only Son
I am home, where I belong

I’m sorry that you must mourn
and I’m sorry that you must grieve
but please, there is no need
‘cause now, I’m living in the house of our Father
surrounded by angels, my soul has been freed

I love you, and I will miss you
until that day, when we meet again
just remember, that I’m happy
‘cause I’m home, where I belong

I’m no longer tired, and all my pain is gone
the sun is shining and Oh! I feel so strong
I’m with the Holy Father, and his only Son
I am home, where I belong
I am home, where I belong
I am home, where I belong

Pastor Denise is leading a study based on Lee Strobel's book, "The Case for Christ".  The Wednesday Bible Study meets every Wednesday from 11:30am - 1:00pm.  The Sanctuary is open prior to the study at 11:15am for optional prayer time. Everyone is welcome to attend and you can join the study at anytime.  More information can be found on the church website.

There is always room for those who wish to share their gift of music.

Church Growth
Conversation Sessions

Jackson UMC is hosting a 7-session Church Growth Conversation, based on the book, “Lasting Impact” by Carey Nieuwhof. Pastor Joseph Tiedemann will lead the sessions and extends the following invitation for you to join the conversation.

7 powerful conversations that will help our church grow

Over the next 7 months, I am inviting you to participate in 7 dialogs that are designed to position our churches for growth in ways that will have a positive impact on our members, families, and communities.

Each month we will gather on Saturday evenings at Jackson UMC from 6-8pm to have fellowship and discussion around the corresponding conversations in the book. We are happy to provide child-care.

You can participate in the conversations without reading the chapter, although you will be able to have much deeper conversations if you have read the chapter ahead of time. Each section is about 30 pages.

Scheduled Conversations:

February 9 – Why Is Our Church Not Growing Faster?
March 9 – How Do We Respond As People Attend Church Less Often?
April 13 – Are Our Leaders Healthy…Really?
May 11 – What Keeps High Capacity Leaders From Engaging Our Mission?
June 8 – Why Are Young Adults Walking Away From Our Church?
July 20 – What Cultural Trends Are We Missing?
August 10 – What Are We Actually Willing To Change?

Grocery Shopping Cards

Every week during Fellowship Time, you have the opportunity to purchase grocery store shopping cards for either Shoprite or Stop & Shop.  This is a convenient way to pay for the food you buy at the grocery store and at the same time support the ministries of DeBows UMC.  The church makes 5% of all shopping cards sold. You may see Sue Hayward or Karen Stillwell to purchase the shopping cards on any Sunday.

Lay Servant Classes
