This month we will look at how we are all called by God to use the gifts given to us by God. Sometimes we worry that we will not be able to do something.  What we struggle to remember is that God gives us the tools we need to fulfill our call. It won’t necessarily look the way we expected or be the way others do it, but God will create our own way for us.

"All Are Called" Sermon Series

Septem‌ber 18
"Equipped"
1 Samuel 17:31-40
God gives us the tools we need to fulfill our call. It won’t necessarily look the way we expected or be the way others do it, but God will create our own way for us.

Septem‌ber 25
"Supported"
1 Samuel 20:1-17

Answering a call is rarely easy. But with the support of good friends and a community, we don’t have to face the hardships alone.

Octo‌ber 2
"Affirmed"
2 Samuel 4:1-5; 12

It can be hard to know if we are truly answering God’s call, but the people around us can affirm us and keep us on the right path. Sometimes

Annual Church Conference
via Zoom - Nove‌mber 7 @ 7p‌m
All reports due Sept‌ember 19

NOTE: Please check the church website and calendar frequently for the most up-to-date scheduling and activity information.
Fall Flea Market
DeBows will host a Flea Market on Sat‌urday, O‌ctober 1 from 8 A‌M to 2 P‌M. Rain date O‌ctober 8. Table space (no table) for vendors is $10. Please contact Sue Hayward at jerseysue@outlook.com to reserve a space or for more information.

Volunteers are needed for setup (sta‌rting at 7a‌m) and breakdown at 2p‌m. Volunteers will also be needed to man the church tables during the flea market. Please contact Sue if you are available to help.

We are asking for donations of water, soda, hot dog rolls, and baked goods to be sold at our food concession. Please let Sue know if you can provide any of the mentioned items.
Fellowship Time
On the second Su‌nday of each month, we have Fellowship Time immediately after the 9 A‌M Worship Service. It will be in Fellowship Hall and is a time of light refreshments and conversation; a time to catch up with each other and welcome visitors. The next Fellowship Time will be on Su‌nday, Oc‌tober 9. Please join us!

NOTE:
Fellowship Time is volunteer driven. There is a sign-up sheet outside of Fellowship Hall. Please use this sheet to indicate which Fellowship time you would like to host. Instructions are found on the sign-up sheet. Currently, we are doing Fellowship Time once a month. That means if we have 12 volunteers, then each person only has to host once a year. If interest is high enough, then we would also consider having Fellowship Time more frequently.
Thursday Bible Study
The Thu‌rsday morning bible study starts at 11‌:00 A‌M. It is held in Fellowship Hall and via Zoom.

Pastor Scott leads this bible study
, which is based on Nicky Gumbel's "Bible in One Year" reading plan. This study is designed to encourage you to read through the entire Bible in 20‌22. More detailed information about the "Bible in One Year" reading plan can be viewed HERE.

Worship Through Giving

We are thankful for your faithful support during these challenging times. Your generous giving has been vital in maintaining our ability to cover expenses and continue our church ministries. You may continue giving in-person at the indoor worship service, by sending your offering check directly to the church, or by using the church online giving feature found in the footer of the church website. It is easy, secure, and appreciated. --- Thank You

If so inspired, you may give online now, by clicking here.

Food Pantry Ministry
The DeBows Food Pantry is open on the 2nd & 4th Mon‌day each month, 6‌-8pm. The next Food Pantry distribution is M‌onday, Sept‌ember 26.

DeBows uses an "Appointment Only" system to distribute the food. People can make an appointment by calling 848-373-8844.

Please note: participants need to call for an appointment by 5‌:00 P‌M on the S‌aturday prior to the scheduled food pantry day. This gives the Food Pantry volunteers time to prepare the food for distribution. "Thank You" for your cooperation.

Please contact Pastor Scott if you need further information or would like to volunteer to help with the Food Pantry ministry.

The Society of St. Andrew (SoSA)
"Bring in the Harvest''

SoSa is a Methodist organization formed by two Methodist ministers and their families. It is now a national organization that brings people together to harvest and share healthy food, reduce food waste, and build caring communities by offering nourishment to hungry neighbors via Food Pantries and other food distributors.

DeBows will be accepting monetary donations during September. If you wish to donate, please write a check to DeBows UMC and write SOSA on the memo line. At the end of September, one check for the total collected will be sent to SoSA.

Music Ministry

DeBows UMC is blessed with talented people who love to praise God. We pray for each other and give back to the Lord the blessings we’ve received. We welcome newcomers to join our music ministry and share and grow their talent for God’s glory. Please contact Grayce by email at music@debowsumc.org for any questions or to discuss opportunities to participate in our music ministry.

Chime Choir — Rehearses Su‌nday morning 8:‌30 to 8:‌45 A‌M and rings the introit to worship on Su‌nday morning (except on Revival Su‌nday). New members are always welcome. Ability to sight read music and prior experience not necessary. Ability to be present and have fun very important!

Praise Band — Rehearses Tuesday nights at 7:‌00 P‌M and plays a five-song set once a month for Revival Sunday, usually the last Sunday of the month. Check email and church calendar for exceptions. All instruments welcome.

* More information about the DeBows music ministry can be viewed here. Modification or cancellation of specific dates will be communicated by Grayce via email. Please check email for any cancellations before coming out.
