West Wight Timebank attended the Freshwater Parish Council Working For The Community 'Have Your Say' event on 27th January in the Memorial Hall.

This gave Sally and Paula a great opportunity to tell both the Councillors and the members of the public the benefits of joining our Time bank.

We shared a space in the hall with Carers IW and The West Wight Sports and Community Centre who are two of our organisational members. See a few pictures below.

We do hope that more local companies would want to join us. If you feel this is something you would like to help with, and earn time credits, please do let Sally know.

What's next for the Timebank?

'Up-skilling' with the Timebank - Take an hour a month to improve your skills or learn new skills and receive a credit for every hour you attend.

When? Each session will be held from 9:30-10:30 before our monthly coffee morning  at the West Wight Sports and Community Centre.  The first one will be held on Thursday 25th February from 9:30-10:30 and the topic will be Mindfulness.

'Mindfulness is a special way of paying attention that can help you to cope  with everyday life or deal with tough times. There are great benefits for  your physical and mental help.'

In this tester session we will:

  • Discuss how Mindfulness can help you
  • Focus on our breathing
  • Calm our minds
  • Be kind to ourselves
This is being offered by a Timebank member and is not an accredited training course. No special equipment is needed and we will perform all activities sitting on a chair.  If you prefer to sit on the floor or lay on the floor, then please bring cushions or mats.

Next sessions following Mindfulness will be on:

Thursday
31st March  2016 - 'Safety Matters and the Timebank'.

Thursday 28th April  2016 - 'Essential First Aid' (2 hour session, 9:30-11:30) details to follow in the next newsletter. Please note numbers are limited so do let Sally know if  you're interested.

Please send your ideas for future sessions to Sally.
