DePauw University School of Music
One-year term position in music education
The School of Music at DePauw University invites applications for a one-year term position in Music Education (rank of Assistant Professor for candidates with an earned PhD or EdD, Instructor for ABD) beginning August 2020.  Salary will be commensurate with experience. Doctorate in music education preferred, ABD in music education considered. Public school teaching experience in music required. University-level teaching experience preferred. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential.
Position Expectations:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in music education: Introduction to/Foundations of Music Education, Music for Students with Diverse Needs, Elementary General Music, Senior Seminar for Music Educators, Student Teaching, and Secondary General Music. Other course assignments will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the School of Music.

Candidates should submit through Interfolio ( a letter of application summarizing qualifications, statement of teaching interests and philosophy, statement of scholarly/creative interests, CV, evidence of effective teaching (such as sample syllabi or course evaluations), three confidential letters of recommendation, and graduate transcripts. Candidates should be able to demonstrate, in application materials, a commitment to fostering an engagement with a diversity of ideas and experiences, which promote an inclusive environment in the classroom, in the School of Music, and at the University.
