‘Russian doll’ nanoparticles, a new therapeutic approach for tuberculosis
In an in vitro study researchers have shown how the nanoparticles are more effective than antibiotics alone.  In the future, the nanoparticles will be administered orally as a non-invasive treatment that is much more acceptable to patients.

Elisa Martró awarded a project for Micro-elimination of Hepatitis C by GILEAD
Elisa Martró, leader of the Clinical Virology and New Diagnostic Approaches Research Group at the Microbiology Service of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital, has been awarded with one of the five projects granted in the First Edition of the Gilead projects for Micro-elimination of Hepatitis C in Spain.

International Executives of B·Braun visit the CMCiB
 
On Tuesday members of the executive committee of the Aesculap  Division of B.Braun have visited the CMCiB

The IGTP has recently signed a contract with B.Braun so the company can install the centre of its Spanish and international teaching operations for the Aesculap Academy at the CMCiB.  The agreement includes the cession rights to our researchers to use minimally invasive surgical equipment and the joint aim of converting the CMCiB into a reference centre for surgical training and testing of medical devices.
First IGTP PI Scientific Retreat June 2019
All PIs at the Can Ruti Campus are invited to participate in the first IGTP Scientific Retreat in June this year. Please watch this space for details of the date, more information will be sent by the Organizing Committee soon. Campus PIs have been defined by the Committee as: researchers who have had competitive or non-competitive projects over 30,000 euros in the last 3 years and who have a current signed adscription agreement with the IGTP. 
The Organizing Committee are Hernando del Portillo (IGTP-ISGlobal), Anna Martinez-Cardús (IGTP-ICO), Jaume Ruiz (IGTP) and Julia García-Prado (IrsiCaixa-IGTP). They are working on the details of the retreat.
