A project on diagnostics and clinical management of tuberculosis, led by the IGTP, receives Marie Skłodowska Curie Funding

The funds collected in the 2017 edition of "La Marathon de TV3" and "Catalunya Ràdio" fundraiser will pay for 36 top-ranked biomedical research projects on infectious diseases with the aim of creating new tools for diagnostics and prevention and more efficient treatments to provide more years of quality life for patients.  The 55 researchers who will carry out the research received their certificates today in an event that took place on Tuesday in the Catalan and Balearic Island Academy of Medical Sciences and Health.  Two of these projects will be carried out at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) on the Can Ruti Campus.

Understanding multimorbidity to improve its prevention

A collaborative research project between IDIBELL-ICO, Jordi Gol IDIAP and IGTP (GCAT) identifies the main diseases that contribute to it. Multimorbidity, defined as the coexistence of two or more diseases in a particular individual, represents a major challenge for healthcare quality. It is estimated that approximately 7% of the general population suffers from multimorbidity and this percentage is higher than 50% among the elderly.

The Noa Warrior Princess initiative has collected 5,311 euros for research into rare paediatric diseases at the IGTP
This week Noa and her parents have visited the IGTP laboratories to present a symbolic cheque for the 5,311 euros raised to finance research into rare paediatric diseases by the IGTP Neuromuscular and Neuropaediatric Research Group.  The money was collected at a charity football match on 12 October in the Municipality of Llefià.
