Highlights from the 2016 AAOS Annual Meeting

This was a record-setting year for Duke Orthopaedics at the 2016 AAOS Meeting! Below are just some of the highlights:
  • Duke faculty, residents, and fellows had over 100 presentations
  • Louis E. DeFrate, ScD, received the Kappa Delta Young Investigator Award for his research on ACL Reconstruction
  • PGY-3, Lindsay Kleeman, MD (Primary Presenter); Thorsten Seyler, MD, PhD; Samuel Wellman, MD; & Michael Bolognesi, MD, had their Paper presentation, “Comparing Acute with Delayed Total Hip Arthroplasty for Medicare Patients with Acetabular Fractures,” selected as a “Top 3 Paper” in the Trauma Category
  • Benjamin A. Alman, MD, Distinguished James R. Urbaniak Professor and Chair of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University, had his paper entitled, “Improving Bone Healing In Neurofibromatosis: A Study In Mice,” selected to be highlighted during the 2016 AAOS Annual Meeting Symposia
  • Julie A. Neumann, MDKathleen D. Rickert, MDStephanie W. Mayer, MDBlake Boggess, DO; & Alison P. Toth, MD, had their paper, "Interposition Porcine Dermal Matrix Xenografts: An Alternative to Traditional Treatment of Massive Cuff Tears," presented in the AAOS 2016 Game Changer Sessions

Dr. Matthew Hilton and his team determine NOTCH signaling in skeletal progenitors is critical for fracture repair

Congratulations to Dr. Hilton, whose study, "NOTCH signaling in skeletal progenitors is critical for fracture repair," has been published in The Journal of Clinical Investigation.
