Bella had her baby April 29th, a whole week early! Some of you have probably already met her, Carlotta (Latte for short), the brown one in the middle. She is half Jersey and half Angus, and will make a nice family milk cow. I don't expect the volume I currently get from Bella, but we will see. Every cow is an individual. We went to get a couple more bottle bull calves to help consume all the extra milk with milking two since we aren't a dairy yet. We are hoping next year to be an official, inspected raw milk dairy with Bella, Daisy, and Buttercup as our cows. We have started the talking with the inspector about how he interprets the requirements. It looks like reusable glass bottles are approved so that is good news! 

This is feed ordering week. If you'd love to purchase some non GMO and soy free feed for your livestock you may order in the following ways: text or email by this Wednesday at midnight. 314-578-1351 or mama.ranch@gmail.com Your first order must be prepaid, all subsequent orders may be paid at pick up.

Feed pick up will be the following week, May 31st. Delivery usually happens on Thursday mornings. Those that order will get a notification that the feed has been delivered. Remember, if you pick up your feed within 24 hours of delivery at the Ranch, you will receive a dollar off per bag! Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.

Cow's Milk Soap

extra fruit from our home orchard, as available. Unsprayed. Great for eating fresh or canning and preserves.

Try a favorite family recipe

Fredericksburg Peach Cobbler
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 TB baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • at least 3 cups peaches, cut in bite size pieces
  • 1/2 to 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces, optional
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Melt butter in a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Mix sugar, flour, baking powder, and milk.
  3. Pour into melted butter. Do not stir.
  4. Cover top of batter with peach peaches. Do not mix.
  5. Cover top of peaches with brown sugar.
  6. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes for until golden brown. Serve with a side of vanilla ice cream if desired.
