Dates Changed for Legislative Meet-Ups

Due to calendar changes by the Illinois General Assembly, we have had to reschedule four of the ILA Legislative Meet-Ups to coincide with dates when the legislature is not in session and legislators are available to meet with us in their home districts. We apologize for any confusion, but want to make these events as convenient as possible to encourage our legislators to attend. Please review the following updated schedule for ILA Legislative Meet-Ups:
West Suburban Library Legislative Lunch
is now Monday, 13 February 2017, Lincoln's birthday, a state holiday
South Suburban Library Legislative Breakfast
is now Tuesday, 14 February 2017, Valentine's Day
Southern Illinois Library Legislative Lunch
is now Monday, 27 February 2017
Metro East Library Legislative Breakfast
is now Friday, 3 March 2017
The Chicago, Buffalo Grove, and Normal events remain on the same dates as originally scheduled--Chicago, February 6; Buffalo Grove, February 20; Normal, March 3.
If you have already registered for a meet-up, your registration has been updated and no further action is required. (Please note that the December 2016 ILA Reporter was printed before these changes were made, so the dates listed there are incorrect.) For a complete listing of these events and to register, please see:

2017 Conference Call for Programs

Don't throw away your shot! Submit a program proposal for the 2017 Illinois Library Association Annual Conference -- Rise Up!

Libraries of all types foster diversity, engage community, and champion social justice. The 2017 ILA Annual Conference, Rise Up, is a chance for us to come together and share our ideas to better our communities, our institutions, and ourselves. How are you making a difference? What are you doing to improve your library and uplift your patrons? Tell us about it. Illinois libraries of all sizes and types make big impacts on their unique communities. Our conference should represent diversity throughout our state and we especially encourage submissions from typically underrepresented perspectives.

Share your ideas by submitting a conference proposal. The ILA Annual Conference Program Committee is seeking programs addressing anything that makes you want to Rise Up, especially the following topics:
  • Community and campus engagement and wellness
  • Compassionate service

  • Internal and external leadership at all levels

  • Activism and social justice initiatives

  • Student success and achievement

  • Behind-the-scenes work that supports access and the patron experience

  • Assessment and data-driven decision making

The deadline for submission is Friday, March 24.
