News Inspired: Summertime, and the livin’ is… PARTY!
The summer of 2017 will be all about celebrating milestones… and what’s a celebration without great food? Well, it’s a less fun celebration. We can’t have that!
Milestone: Cheese Curds Now Open in Oromocto !
Facebook was our first clue. When we announced we’d be opening June 15th, the “likes” came pouring in and we hoped that would mean we’d see some of you on opening day. But we never expected the incredibly warm welcome Oromocto gave us! In just that one day, we served more than 800 guests… and that many again the next few days after that. After a baptism of fire, our crew is on the ball and doing a fantastic job; we’re open every day from 11-9. Next up: Habaneros, slated to open on July 25th. Come hungry, Oromocto!
Milestone: Canada's 150th
The Halifax Commons will be hosting a huge 150th Canada Day celebration, and we are stoked to be sending four of our most popular food trucks to help keep revellers fuelled.
The baby of our food truck fleet, Sea-Hawgs East Coast BBQ, is a 20-foot trailer with four wood/charcoal fire BBQs and two smokers… and can feed thousands all the BBQ their hearts desire.
Throughout the day, our newSweet Dudes truck will offer indulgent desserts to keep your energy levels high. Then, after nightfall, Sweet Dudes will convert into HRM’s only donair truck, Halifax Donair Shop, because... well... what's a night of partying in Halifax without donair? Don't answer. We don't want to know.
And no summertime celebration in Halifax would be complete without Canada’s freakiest food truck, our Gecko Bus! She’ll be serving all your Habaneros favourites, at the heart of the Canada Day action.
Come celebrate Canada at the Halifax Commons; we’d love to be a part of your day. We’ll be serving from 9 am until the crowds subside (or are full). Happy 150th Birthday, Canada!
Milestone: Habaneros' 5th
Habaneros turns 5 this July and we're celebrating on Friday, the 21st. Who could have predicted the restaurant Chef Bill opened in part because he needed more space to cook, prep and store goods for Cheese Curds, would become such a fixture of the HRM food scene? We’d love for you to help celebrate Habaneros’ 5th birthday at our original location in Woodside, 380 Pleasant St., in Dartmouth. There’ll be cake! And for every order of cheesy chips we sell at any of our HRM locations on that day, we'll donate $1 to Easter Seals Nova Scotia.
Milestone: A new Cheese Curds/Habaneros
franchise coming soon to Truro, NS
The bustling Truro Power Centre, 14 Treaty Trail at Exit 13A off Highway 102, will soon offer a combination Cheese Curds/Habaneros thanks to the Millbrook First Nation Band. The 3,500 square foot standalone building is yet to be constructed, but we’ve broken ground on the site just behind the Tim’s/Ultramar at that spot. The building will look like our brand new location in Oromocto, and the food will knock your socks off. (But please wait until you’re back in your vehicle to deal with your socks.)

In July, we’re putting our customers in the driver’s seat when it comes to specials. If you’re going to be celebrating anyway, why not do it with your favourite menus?
At Cheese Curds, we’re bringing back our Burger Week special, the hugely popular "Southwestern Sweet Heat Burger."
Habaneros is featuring a long-standing fan favourite, our Buffalo Chicken Caesar Burrito.
