WEBSITE     ||     OUR SERVICES     ||     ON THE BLOG
Hello and welcome
It’s July, and this newsletter is a little different from usual as there area no new blogs to link to. This is because we’ve both been very busy and haven’t had time to write anything new, but we have linked to some old blogs that have been very popular that you may have missed (particularly if you’re a newer subscriber).

So what have we been doing?
There is some info on all that below, but we’ve had a lot of work to do for clients over this last month – which is excellent – and as well as all that there’s been a lot of work towards the One Voice conference to do and Helen is planning a range of new services which she’s hoping to launch very soon, and that needs working on too.

We’re both really happy to be attending One Voice in person this year, as great as the virtual one was last year, and very happy to be able to sponsor the conference and both be asked to speak. It’s going to be a busy weekend for us, but if you’re there (in person or virtually) do please come and say Hello 👋🏻. If we’re not on our expo stand or doing a talk we’ll probably be in the bar.
An especially big hello and welcome to our newest subscribers Barb, Susan, Rins, Gaelle, Noreen & Richard.
New services coming soon!
I know I (Helen) said that I was hoping to launch new branding and website services in July. There is going to be a delay, but not for too much longer. I've got a few things in the planning and development stages including new branding & logo packages, new website packages (including a budget option), courses and brand-spanking-new retainer service which will combine Rob's studio support and audio production with my website and design support!

We're really quite excited to share these with you, but we need to iron out some of the details before we can say more. However - you will be the 1st to hear about them when they do launch.

One of the reasons for the delay is I've been working on lots of new brand & website projects. There's a sneak peek at some of them above ⤴️
Our 6 most popular blogs*
*Well, from 2020 & 2021 anyway...
6  //  Colour Palettes – everything you need for a beautiful voiceover brand
I think it's safe to say that I'm a little colour obsessed. My all-time favourite? Rainbow! I love colour. I'm fascinated by the psychology of colour. I'm constantly tested as they appear to change when they're sat next to one another. Some evoke positive emotional responses, some negative. We each have a different response to colour, so where on earth do you begin when picking colours for your brand?

5  //  Setting up a Voiceover Studio During a Lock-Down
This was a blog written at the beginning of the pandemic in order to direct the many studio enquiries I was getting from people whose agents had previously been telling them they didn't need a studio. Although it was written for a particular place and time, the advice is still good if you're setting up a studio in less-than-ideal circumstances.

4  //  Cookies and Privacy – make your voice website legally compliant
I'll admit it. I'm equally surprised and pleased this is in the top 6. Let's face it - Cookies and Privacy Policies are super-dull. Unfortunately, they're also super important and something we small business owners (yes, I'm talking to you!) need to know about. So if you aren't sure what you should have or you've NOT got cookies or Privacy settings on your site, this will help...

3  //  Branding for voiceovers part 2 – brand personality
Every business - from huge international corporations in high rise shiny buildings to a voiceover sat in a small, dark padded room - needs to market or 'sell'. We have to let people know what we do. Having a clear brand makes that process much easier. Consistent tone of voice, colours, imagery - even where and how we sell - all make up a brand. And each has a different feel or, as I like to call it... personality.

2  //  Technical Audio Production Tips for Voiceovers Part 1
The more you know, the more you know you don't know. Here's a blog about some basic terms and things the jobbing VO will deal with on a daily basis written to either bridge or widen the knowledge gap depending on whether you know or realise you don't know. Yer know?

1  //  Planning a Professional Studio at Home
A bit of a look at the sort of stuff you need to consider for a studio or recording space before you even think about what to spend your money on.
You won't find egg boxes or moving blankets mentioned here! >>>
We finally had our photos taken!
Postponed from last Autumn due to 'it', we set alarms for 4:30am and headed into Manchester. We managed to get the only sunny day that week too. Day 2 was a sensible 10am meet. I think it's safe to say that Rob hated every single second of it, but we got loads of new photos (263 in total 😳). A huge thanks to our amazing photographers - Jodie - Photo + Flourish (outdoor shoot) and Helen - RoscoeRutter (studio shoot) - go check them out! Anyway, here are a few of the images. Can you spot the one where Rob is smiling?!
Webinar : Using real-time effects in your DAW
Monday 12 July
Gravy For The Brain Members: FREE, Non-members: £29

Processing your audio can be confusing enough, most VOs prefer to apply processing directly to the audio so the changes to the waveform can be seen. In this webinar I will look at using inserts and send/return effects in DAWs to process the audio in real-time and will discuss the considerable advantages to working this way.
