Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all enjoying a little down time this summer.


We have a few important things to share that we felt shouldn't wait until Fall, so we hope you find this Summer edition of our newsletter helpful. Take a peek below to view the videos from our May 2016 Education Session, to learn more about the changes to Criterion 3.4, and to view updated versions of resources for programs and peer reviewers.

2016 EDUCATION SESSION VIDEOS
Thank you once again to all who participated in our session held in Vancouver in May.  The theme of the morning was Accreditation as a Quality Improvement Initiative.  We appreciate your feedback following this year's session and will be incorporating some of your suggestions as we plan for the 2017 event.

REVISED ACCREDITATION STANDARDS & SUPPORTING RESOURCES
The 2012 Accreditation Standards have been revised to reflect the changes to CORE for Criterion 3.4: 
The program provides clinical education / fieldwork experiences in occupational therapy and physiotherapy that enable students to achieve the learning outcomes.  
The resources below have been created or revised to support programs as they prepare to demonstrate compliance with this criterion within the specified timelines.
 
REVISED: 2012 Standards
The 2012 Accreditation Standards have been revised to incorporate the changes to Criterion 3.4. The key change is that both 3.4.2 and 3.4.3 are now CORE criteria.

NEW: Timelines for Compliance
This document outlines the timelines in which programs must demonstrate compliance with the changes to Criterion 3.4, now CORE.

NEW: Role Emerging Placements Guide
(May 2016)

This document provides guidelines around role emerging clinical placements. It describes how and when clinical placement hours completed in a role emerging context can be recognized and included as evidence of compliance with Criterion 3.4.

NEW: Tracking Fieldwork Hours Guide
This guideline was created as a resource to programs with respect to the level of tracking required to demonstrate compliance with criterion 3.4.2.  Thank you to our subcommittee members who worked diligently to create a document that is as clear and concise as possible.

UPDATED ACCREDITATION HANDBOOKS
Both the Program Accreditation Handbook and the Peer Reviewer Accreditation Handbook have received their annual refresh to ensure the content is current and relevant for programs and peer reviewers.  You will notice the look is a little different this year.  The content changes for each handbook have been described briefly below.  French versions will be made available later this fall.

Updated sections include:
  • OTA & PTA EAP Values and Operational Principles, previously published in Spring 2016
  • OTA & PTA EAP Goals, previously published with the Strategic Plan Spring 2016
  • Insertion of hyperlinks to policies and forms referenced throughout
NEW is the section on Formatting and Submitting the Self Study Report.  Requirements for formatting have been updated to ensure SSR's are easily navigable for the Peer Review Team.
