Pastor Dan Erlenbusch and his wife Dr. Karyn Erlenbusch

These have been difficult times in our lives, and we are grateful for everyone who has stayed committed to their church family here at Spirit of Joy.  We continue weekly worship with both liturgy and contemporary services.  Our service at this time is at 9 a.m. every Sunday.  We have made the decision to do permanent live streaming.  We want to encourage those who have been watching at home, when you feel comfortable please join in person.   There is that wonderful sense of reconnecting with one another in our life together as God's people.
In the month of November, we will be sending you materials centered around our theme "Ignite Your Generosity".  It will take every one of us to be committed in our giving.  We are grateful for your faithfulness, and we realize that this is what it will take for us to be the church in Ramona, and to keep our ministries alive and thriving.
On Sunday November 7th we celebrate the 27th Anniversary of our congregation.  Dates to remember include our Thanksgiving worship on Sunday, November 21st...and our Christmas Eve Services on December 24th at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Ministries are once again meeting "in person" on a regular basis.  Bible Studies, Prayers and Squares, Men and Women's Fellowship, Home Groups, Kids Klub, Youth Group, and Choir.  We want to encourage you to be intentional about your involvement.  Find areas that you would like to serve, and volunteer.
We have much to be thankful for, and we are so deeply grateful for all of you,

Pastor Dan
Property Update
Hello Spirit of Joy Family,

I am writing to give you an update on the sale of the church's Highway 67 property. As you know, the congregation voted to sell the land last year, and it was listed for sale at the price of $3.5 million dollars. We received some interest immediately, but it took some time to create a contract, work with a real estate attorney to negotiate the terms, and finally settle on a purchase agreement for the transaction. Finally, we can say that the purchase agreement has been signed and the escrow period has begun. As this is a commercial property, the escrow is extended, and will last at least 5 months. Please continue your faithful giving to our ministries during this time.

As we turn our focus from building on the property, I am looking forward to spending more time on our mission - to spread the good news of Jesus Christ by reaching out to all people through Worship, Prayer, Teaching, Fellowship and Service.  I ask that each one of you reflect on what you would like to see in the church going forward, and how you can help the church accomplish its goals in these ministry areas. Also, I would like to thank the congregation and the church council for continuing to be supportive during this process - your kind words and prayers are much appreciated.

As always, please contact myself or any member of the church council if you have questions.

Thank you,
Jessica Parker

A Season of Sharing

Operation Chiristmas-As impossible as it is to believe, the fall and winter holidays are knocking at the door. This time of year is ripe with opportunities to share the numerous blessings God has given us with those less fortunate than ourselves.   This past weekend, we kicked off our shoebox drive for Operation Christmas Child held in conjunction with Samaritans Purse. You can pick up a shoe box after the service or at the church during office hours and fill it with small gifts (toys, crayons, socks, lip balm etc).  Boxes will be  mailed off to be distributed to a child somewhere in the world so that they may enjoy Christmas.  Who knows where your box will end up??? It is fun to track your package and watch its progress.  If you want to make it super easy on yourself, you can build and ship your box completely online.
Go to  for more information!  The boxes will be collected in the week before thanksgiving.  Join us during Sunday service and watch the Spirit of Joy Facebook page for more information.  The collection point for all of Ramona will be at Grace Community Church.

Ramona Food and Clothes Closet-Coming up in November and December is our food drive and toy drive to benefit the Ramona Food and Clothes closet.  Those very important food and toy donations stay in our community to help our neighbors who are struggling this year.   If you still have Thrivent Action Team dollars to spend before the end of the year, this is a great way to use them.  The food drive will not only feed families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it helps to stock Ramona Food and Clothes Closet's food pantry all year long.

Open Door Meals-Finally, the Youth will be preparing Open Door Meals on Monday, November 8th  If you can help, please see Randi-Kate and let her know.  This is a great opportunity for families!

Please prayerfully consider how you can help out this year.  If you want to participate, but are unable to get out and about for whatever reason, I am always happy to pick up donations from your house or even shop for you.  Please see me at church or call/text to 760-917-1023

May God continue to bless you all!

Youth Activities
Happy November everyone! The last half of this year seems to be flying by. I have been enjoying our weekly youth group on Sunday evenings and our confirmation class on Sunday mornings!

As we continue to grow our youth and church community I encourage our students to get involved in youth activities and to invite friends along with them! There will be a lot of chances in these coming months to not only grow in faith but to give back to our community as well.

The first half of our confirmation sessions will officially be done by November 7th. The second half (or second semester) of confirmation will start up again in the spring. The date will be announced later on!

Youth Group/ Youth Activities
Youth group will continue every Sunday from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church! Due to the holiday weekend we will NOT have a youth group on Sunday, November 28th.

The youth are also in charge of the Open Door Meals on November 8th!
An exact time will be announced but the youth are going to be asked to help prep and box the meals on that Monday.

Volunteer Search:
I am excited to report that our baby is growing and I am right in the middle of my third trimester! I am looking for volunteers who would be willing to take over facilitating our youth group on Sunday's while I am on maternity leave in December/January. I will make sure everything is planned out and all information is given to those that are volunteering! If you are interested please send me an email:

I wish you all the blessings this November and holiday season!
