Returning to Worship, Ministries for All
As we have now shifted to in person worship in our worship center, we are looking forward to everyone returning to join us each week at 9 a.m.  We will permanently be live streaming the service every week.  For those live streaming, lyrics and bulletin will be available on YouTube every week. In addition, we will begin publishing a monthly enewsletter on the 28th of every month.  So, this publication will be your August enewsletter.

It has been wonderful, and certainly an energizer for all who are able to worship in person.  To share in the service, and hear the voices singing many of our favorite hymns and praise music has been an incredible gift of blessing.  As we look to the next month, we will be having communion on the 1st and 15th of August.

We are looking forward to many of our ministries beginning to meet on a regular basis.  On September 12th we will celebrate our Rally Day with a kickoff for Sunday School activities, and a time of lifting up all of our ministries.  Take time to pray about what area of ministry you would like to serve.  We will have a Ministry Fair where you can sign up and volunteer to serve.  Each of us is encouraged to make that commitment for involvement.
Our worship will continue at 9 a.m., with pre-packaged communion on communion Sundays.  We will continue to have the offering box located on the entry table for your convenience.  We thank you for your dedication and offerings as this keeps Spirit of Joy vital and doing the ministry we have all been called to do at Spirit of Joy.

Randi-Kate is doing a terrific job and the youth are planning various service projects before the start of school.  We look forward to Kids Klub for children preschool through 6th grade starting on Tuesday, September 14th.  Home Groups and Bible Studies will have their start up dates in the coming weeks.

This month Spirit of Joy will be helping with the Open Door Meals on August 9th.  The Men's Fellowship is responsible for providing and serving the meal.  More information is provided by Christy Serra in this enewsletter on the Open Door Meals.

We pray that you are all doing well, and look forward to seeing you in worship.

Please save the date for our next Congregation Meeting August 8th, following the service. We will be having a vote, so plan to attend in person or connect via the livestream chat function. The topic of the meeting will be an update on the church property and granting the council authorization to sign a purchase agreement when it becomes necessary.
Weekly Events:
Bible Verse

 Youth Activities

Our summer programming is off to a great start. We had a worship night in July, and I was so excited to connect with some of our students through games and fellowship. We have a couple of events that are going to be happening in August as well. More details will be given as these dates get closer and sign up forms will be located on the church website, Facebook pages, as well in paper copy form during church services.

Here are some events to be on the lookout for:

Game Evening Tuesday,  August 10th &17th : Come join me for some devotion and games on these evenings from 4:30pm-6:00pm. August 10th will be held out at Ramona Oaks Park and August 17th will be held at Spirit of Joy.

Service Day Saturday, August 14th 10:00 a.m.: Let's give back to our community on Saturday August 14th by spending a couple hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Frosted Faces Foundation. Here we will help with taking care of the dogs and whatever the staff and other volunteers might need from us. A sign up form will be both at the church and online. Sign ups for this event will end August 5th.

Also, a reminder that we are working on updating contact forms for our youth. That form  is located on the church website as well!

Meet Randi Kate Canoy Suhr, Spirit of Joy's New Youth Director

Hello everyone!
I am originally from a small town northeast Iowa. My husband Brad and I moved to Ramona this past February from Hawaii. Brad is in Navy and works in Naval Aviation.

I went to Luther College and graduated with a bachelors degree in psychology and have previously worked with kids in the behavioral health field and was a youth director at my local church.
We have two dogs Shawna and Bella and are expecting a baby this coming December!

Bible Verse

Jesus said, Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
Matthew  19: 14
Have you heard of Open Door Meals?
The Open Door ministry in Ramona was founded in approximately 1993 by Bob Denny and others.

Their goal was to share the love of Jesus and provide a weekly nutritious hot meal to needy Ramonans. They soon realized that the need was greater than could be met with a weekly meal. So they established In His Steps Recovery Homes to provide a residential program that could better serve those with greater spiritual and physical needs. Some of those early residents, who are now committed followers of Christ, are still involved in supporting the Open Door Ministry.

Since October, 2008 the Ramona Grange on 7th street north of Main has been the home of Open Door. Free meals are served every Monday from 6-7 P.M., followed by a Bible Study.

Food is prepared and served by many different churches throughout Ramona. Currently Spirit of Joy serves one Monday every three months. This responsibility rotates between Spirits of Grace, Men's Fellowship, and the Youth Group.

In Matthew 25:34-35 Jesus said, "Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in."

When you help serve a meal at Open Door you'll realize that this ministry meets a valuable need in our community.  This is a wonderful opportunity to also serve the King in a meaningful way.

***Our Next Open Door Meal Serving Opportunity is Monday August 9th, and is organized by the Men's' Fellowship Group.  If you are interested in helping out, either this time around or in the future (Our turn comes around in November again), please contact the church office!***
