Welcome to our first newsletter!

This network, for anyone interested in the intersection of museums, climate change and the Anthropocene, started as a response to the urgent need to engage the public in these issues. We now have over almost 100 members from all over the world, and many more who access the website (mccnetwork.org). All of us are interested in finding and sharing ideas, resources and inspiration.

International Symposium on Museums & Climate Change, Manchester, England, 11-13 April, 2018.

Convenors: Henry McGhie and Walter Leal.
Gathering at the University of Manchester, home of the Manchester Museum, more than 75 museum professionals, university academics, students, officers of government, inter-governmental organisations, NGOs and artists came together from around the world to explore the ways that museums can respond responsibly to climate change.  > program
Read the Report of the discussions by Sarah Sutton, LEED-AP.
Discussions were guided by the Talanoa dialogue for Climate Ambition, a Fijian framework that the COP is using this year. We asked “Where are We, Where do we want to go? How will we get there?”
We also held a Workshop – which developed a wonderful corpus of ideas for a pop-up travelling exhibition.

An edited volume is just out-  Addressing the Challenges in Communicating Climate Change, Walter Leal, Henry McGhie and Bettina Lackner, eBook by Springer.
