What location should we use for your senior photos is the number one question I get next to...what should I wear? Here are a few tips that will help you figure out what location will work best for you!

1. Think about how you want your senior pictures to look. If you want something natural and rustic, start brainstorming local parks and nature areas.  Do you like bright colors? A garden full of flowers would work well. If you want something more modern and urban, there are lots of downtown areas to check out.

2. Ideally, your location will have areas of shade. Direct sunlight is NOT the most flattering light for portrait photography (think harsh shadows & squinty eyes). I like to use buildings, overhangs, trees, or any other structures in the area that can provide a little shade if it’s a super sunny day.

3. Choose somewhere with a variety of features and spots to use. Since the time of day and weather drastically affect lighting and there may be people we need to work around, it’s nice to have a location with several good features to choose from. That way, if our main spot doesn’t work out the way we envisioned, we can just walk to another. The more variety we have to choose from in a small area, the easier and more fun your session will be!

4. Last but not least, is the location practical? Are you allowed to take pictures there? Is there a permit or fee required? Will it be easy to park? Easy to walk around? Crowded? Are you able to change outfits in a nearby restroom, or will we need to use my pop-up changing tent? Not planning ahead about these things can lead to a frustrating experience.

I have lots of specific suggestions for locations I’ve used and loved…but I’m always up from trying new spots my clients have scouted out! I encourage you to drive around and see what locations you can come up with – you’d be amazed at the spots you can find when you’ve really got your eyes open, sometimes practically in your backyard! -Holly

One of my favorite things about spring is the COLOR! I have always been drawn to bright and fresh colors. Here are a few color pallets to inspire your spring designs!

It's March! That means, for the most part, I am still in re-grouping mode. Senior season isn't here yet, most families would rather wait and have spring photos outside, and there are just a handful of weddings happening around here, so I'm not tooo busy on the weekends yet. With the extra time, there are quite a few things I like to do. First is visiting two of my happiest places...Target and Barnes & Noble. Nothing makes me happier than my yoga pants and a hoodie,  coffee in hand and that glorious red cart. Now that the Champaign Target has a Starbucks (get with it, Bloomington!), I don't even have to make an extra trip to get my VWCM (venti white chocolate mocha.) If I'm not at Target, you can find me at Barnes & Noble doing the exact same thing, only this time I am on the hunt for my new monthly read. A lot of folks give me grief about Barnes & Noble...'oh that place is too expensive, just get it on Amazon.' Well, I am all about the experience and nothing is more relaxing than sitting crisscross applesauce, sitting in my favorite book aisle, flipping through dozens of books. Magazines have become my new favorite as well. MagnoliaClick, and Bella Grace are some of my favorites! Have you read anything worth sharing? Send me your favorites, I would love to hear them! -Holly

Spring is just over the horizon... can you tell I'm excited?!

The colors, the warmth, and the start of new beginnings and life. I love me some Springtime!

This year it is even more exciting because it is our first spring at the RV site and there is so much to do outdoors! From fishing, walking, playgrounds and a small little sand beach, we are ready to get outside and play! Even just the sun peeking through our big windows and sliding door brings me life.

Tman is also a HUGE fan of walking around the campsite. He laughs at the geese as they fly around honking. This kid is going to live outside this spring/summer. Spring means we can be outside grilling, playing on the deck, and who knows... maybe I will get a small garden or greenery planted around our site.

March is also vacation month for us. Eric and I will be headed to Mexico at the end of the month, and I am looking forward to a break, some sun and beach time!!

Tman is ready for some springtime too! Little man turns a year and a half today <3

2018 is already proving itself to be stocked full of all kinds of challenges and excitement. I can’t believe it’s already March!? I took our new video equipment for a spin this past weekend, and we’ve still got a few kinks to work out, but I’m excited to see the progress we make this year. On top of all the new video equipment, our sports division has transitioned to a new system and that’s not without a few hiccups along the way! Even so, we’re workin’ through it as a team, and I couldn’t be more thankful for my team members!

On a personal note, I just hit my 6-month mark for CrossFit! Time to kick it in gear for my first competition, May 5th at the Granite Games Throwdown. It’s been a bit of an adjustment to my diet and training routine, but it’s going to be all worth it! Anyone else out there a CrossFit fiend?

Looking forward to more sunshine in March and some beautiful weddings coming up this spring! -Paige
