President's Message

As I write this, April The Giraffe has STILL not had her baby. I’ve been obsessing since March 19th and have lost several hours of my life to watching the behind of a zoo animal. A friend suggested I find a new obsession…I chose the WBC!

We had such a great and innovative board meeting this month, where new ideas were generated and implemented. Here are a few NEW happenings for the rest of 2017. I’m going to warn you, it’s a LOT!

  1. We now have a MEMBERS ONLY Facebook page. Members are able to ask questions to each other, promote an event they are having, share public awareness announcements, etc. If you are a WBC member and would like to be invited to the page, please write a note on the WBC wall (link here)
  2. At our April 11th luncheon, we will be drawing yellow tickets to win a $75 Gift Card to Wegmans. If you haven’t been to a WBC luncheon lately, members are writing down on a ticket if they have set up a meeting with a member, had a meeting with a member, referred business to a member or done business directly with another member. We put them all in a fish bowl and are going to have drawings 3 times a year.
  3. At our May 9th luncheon, featuring QVC’s Mary Beth Roe, we will be awarding the “Community Partner Volunteer Of  The Year” award to Mary Lou Sturge.
  4. Love to read? Want to read those business books, but are lacking motivation? The WBC is starting a Business Book Club! Our first quarterly meeting will be in June in Malvern at The Buttery. We will be reading the book "Presence: Bringing Your Boldest Self to Your Biggest Challenges” by Amy Cuddy. Please bring a friend, whether they are a WBC member or not :)
  5. Get inspired while sipping on Penn’s Wood wine! August 23rd’s business card exchange is going to feature a 10 minute motivational talk.
  6. September 12th’s luncheon will be a panel discussion on Breast Health, including a breast cancer survivor, a BRACA representative from Quest, a caregiver and a medical professional.
  7. Meet Me At The Mansion is October 5th…you don’t want to miss it!!!!!!
  8. We are going to switch up our December 12th luncheon from our holiday shopping format and instead, just enjoy each other’s company during the holiday season with WINE AND PRESENTS. Details to come.

I encourage you to put these dates on your calendar now so you don’t miss out! Are you still reading? Thanks for hanging in there with me ;)
