Dear Uraia partner,

As you know, the Uraía Platform is an initiative led in partnership between UN-Habitat and FMDV (Global Fund for Cities Development) to foster the exchange of experience on municipal innovation. Every year, it focuses its activities on a specific topic that is priority on cities’ agenda around the world. In 2015, the focus was on city-to-business collaboration in the specific case of SMART projectsThis year, Uraía will explore the impact of SMART technologies in the municipal budget, through the organization of a workshop and the elaboration of a recommendation and case studies report. You have until March 10th to register.

How to participate?


PROFILE: The workshop will gather 40 representatives of:
  • local governments,
  • network of cities,
  • international and civil society organizations,
  • research centers
  • private sector. 
DEADLINE: March 10th

GRANTS: Uraía will cover the expenses of 10 speakers, representing local governments from Asia, Africa and Latin America.

What we'll talk about?
 

SMART technologies to increase municipal revenue by:
-- improving tax recovery performance (data analysis to fight fraud, mapping tools) 
-- facilitating payments (mobile money)
-- building trust of citizens with transparency policies such as open data and participatory budgeting

SMART technologies to reduce expenses by:
-- optimizing administrative procedures (e-government policies)
-- reduce energy consumption in municipal assets (publich lighting and municipal buildings)
