SMART Cities: the City of Malaga hosts the new Uraia Secretariat

Collaboration with Paris: supporting cities to raise private capital for local climate investment: the Cities Green Funds
With the support of the Cities Finance Lab from Climate-KIC, FMDV and the City of Paris developed a guidebook to understand the functions, technical and legal modalities of the Paris Green Fund in order to explore possible replications in France and Europe to accelerate the mobilization of private investment in green local economies. FMDV and the City of Paris took part to the Finance Commission of France Urbaine Network on January 30, 2018 to disseminate the information on Paris Green Fund to 70 participants from other French cities and network of cities. Collaboration with Lisbon: accelerating climate investment in Lisbon through a collaborative approach for a green participatory budget

UCLG-FMDV: launch of the first meeting of the Community of Practice on localizing finance
As part of their new initiative on Localizing Finance, UCLG and FMDV organized the first meeting of the new community of practice on localizing finance on November 5 in Madrid during the UCLG World Bureau. This initiative brought together local and regional elected officials and CFO’s from cities and regions around the world to discuss positions and solutions on financing sustainable urban development and shared experiences amongst peers. Signature of a partnership agreement with the Local Governments Council of West-African Economic and Monetary Union Commission (WAEMU) on financial decentralization
During the WAEMU's 25th years anniversary, the agreement defines FMDV's support to the Council of Local Authorities of WAEMU in its financial decentralization actions spread in 8 countries and benefitting to 3,000 local authorities in an ambitious program. [+ info]
Financing affordable housing: FMDV organizes 3 main activities in Rennes, Lille and London
Developed within the Interreg European Program "SHICC" those activities included the launch of the first network "Foncier Solidaire France" with the support of the French Ministry of Housing M Denormandie, a 2 days field trip in London and a workshop on affordable housing and land management as levers for Social and Solidarity Economy levers

Towards a strengthened CCFLA
The members of the CCFLA, the global coalition for the localization of climate finance, and its secretariat led by FMDV and UNEP, started to work on redesigning the animation capacities and the activities carried out by the coalition to aime at is reinforcement, with the support of France and Germany, which recently made the commitment to join the CCFLA. Presentation of the Subnational Climate Finance Expertise Program during the 8th Africities Summit, and commitment to disseminate the program throughout Africa
Supported by the State Secretary for Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Interior, through its Director General for Local Governments, AMPCC and ARM, through their presidents, the SCFEP was put forward as a major step for the Kingdom at the 8th Africities Summit in Marrakesh. Organization of an urban infrastructure project coaching workshop: structuring a € 150 million green investment project pipeline for West Africa

Match-making: organization of a roadshow for the City of Johannesburg to meet with companies, private and institution investors and peers in France and Belgium
FMDV organized a roadshow for a delegation of the city of Johannesburg led by the Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba in Paris and then Brussels, and organized meetings with technical and financial stakeholders to present the major projects and investment opportunities of the city. Following these meetings, an Investment Forum will be held in Johannesburg in 2019.[+ info]
