Greetings, friends of Feet on the Street Ministries! We are excited about how God has been moving and shifting our ministry into a new season over the past few years, and we wanted to share a quick summary of the exciting things God has been doing here in Reading, PA!  If you are receiving this newsletter, it means you are a friend of someone here at Feet on the Street, or you are someone we thought might enjoy staying connected to all the latest. Our goal is to send out several newsletters each year to keep our friends and supporters in touch with what is happening at Feet on the Street. 2015 started as the dust was still settling from our Christmas musical performances of Wondrous Gift - The Treasure of Jesus.  The cast and crew dedicated months of time and energy to musically telling the story of Jesus' birth, with a victorian era feel on various stages in the Reading area. The hard work paid off as we saw countless hearts and lives impacted by the powerful gospel message.  We also used the production as a platform to begin talking about what God is doing in and through Feet on the Street. We shared the story of the how the ministry began (watch the video), as well as our current need for a bigger meeting space, since our youth and our attendance are both growing up into an older and larger community. What had started 16 years ago as primarily a youth center run by one family is now maturing into a thriving church. With the offerings and donations collected at each performance, we began our first new building fund-raising campaign.
2015 was a year of many firsts. In April, God brought us our first opportunity to take a ministry team outside of Berks County, and it was a success in every way! We were invited to bring a team to Stamford, Connecticut, for a weekend of ministry. We led 3 different services in 2 different locations. It was a wonderful opportunity for our youth to serve other parts of the body of Christ by spreading their contagious passion for God through worship, ministry and prayer. We grew closer to each other and learned firsthand what Christ meant when He told us to "go" and to "freely give as you have freely received." Watch the video!
Another exciting new ministry opportunity for Feet on the Street was birthed in May of 2015 as the school year was winding down. Reading High School student, Sterling Youngtrapp, dreamed up and launched his final senior project, Hope Alive. His vision was to plan an after-school, student-led worship service where his peers could come to find the same true living HOPE in Jesus that he had come to know through Feet on the Street. Since that initial gathering, the administrations of both Reading High School and Reading Intermediate High School miraculously approved Hope Alive as an official, monthly after-school event, and God opened the doors wide for us to continue reaching out to students in both schools! We are in awe of the ways God continues to use Hope Alive to bring new hope and life transformation to Reading area students. We have seen a growing hunger for God among these teenagers, who are tired of the violence and fear which sadly darkens their overcrowded schools. When they see their peers from Feet on the Street lead this event, full of joy, love, and passion for Jesus, they naturally want to find out why! Many who have connected with God through Hope Alive have also since joined our Friday night UpZone youth services, yet another reason that our small cement block building is quickly filling up and in need of expansion!
Summer of 2015 brought with it the opportunity to produce another main stage musical production. This time our fearless directors, Rose and Allan Chambers, helped the youth tackle a modern-day telling of the book of Acts.  Acts: A City Rising required a larger cast, even drawing in a few additional youth from other Reading churches. After a few months of rehearsal we presented the powerful story in 3 different venues. God was present in the production in powerful ways! The cast and crew brought to life the radical realities of the early church as characters like Stephen, Paul and Peter believed and shared their faith in the face of severe persecution. The production encouraged many hearts and lives to cling to Jesus in a day and age when believers are once again facing extreme persecution!  Once again we were able to use the offerings collected at each performance to help us raise funds for our growing ministry! This time we aimed the gifts towards our missions trip to Nicaragua, which you will read about below!
July, 2015, brought with it a new cleaned-up look for the Feet on the Street property. Dan Bailey, from Zion Church in Hamburg, PA, blessed us abundantly by focusing the efforts and resources of his annual week-long summer youth work project on upgrading our humble urban space. We gave our bridge mural a bright new design, cleaned up piles of dead trees and debris, finished securing our property with a custom-built iron fence, and gave our church building a fresh new face! (All this was completed just weeks before Feet on the Street hosted our first outdoor wedding celebration - See Rod & Kristin's story in the Reading Eagle).
NICARAGUA! As if all this other excitement wasn't enough for one year, God decided to show us His faithfulness even MORE by opening doors and providing ALL the necessary finances for us to take a team of youth on Feet on the Street's first international mission trip. In October, we traveled to Nicaragua and spent 10 days working alongside local full-time missionaries in and around Jinotepe.  We worked with children in the neighborhoods, shared the gospel in town plazas, organized and led a conference, and supported local ministries in any way we could. Overall, it was an eye-opening experience for each person, and we came back abundantly blessed and hungry for more opportunities to share the love of God.  Watch the video!
Feet on the Street is growing in every way possible! As our new bridge mural reminds us, God is definitely doing a NEW THING! We are in an exciting season of transition as the young people who have connected with God through our ministry over the years are becoming leaders and ministers of the same gospel truths that transformed their lives from darkness to light. In the past year, God has begun swinging wide the doors to new opportunities for our maturing FOTSM family to take what He has been doing within our humble ministry center to ignite and impassion other hearts and lives around our city, around our nation and even abroad in other nations.
What began as an outreach to youth in a small corner building on Pear street is now clearly reaching and enriching all ages and generations.  What was once solely a Friday night youth gathering called UpZone has become a thriving church family. Reaching out to youth is just one of our many callings and ministries at Feet on the Street. We have three thriving home groups reaching high school students, as well as a growing community of young adults who are entering the working world and boldly stepping into their roles as leaders in the body of Christ.
As a result of all that God is doing at Feet on the Street, we urgently need a new space where our growing faith family can gather.  We have thoroughly researched our options, and we are actively drawing up plans to build onto our current building as soon as funds are available.  If you would like to help move our building project forward by sowing into what God is already growing and multiplying at Feet on the Street, you may send us a tax-deductible gift online by clicking the blue button below. Or you may send a check to:

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support for this ministry! God has been faithful to continue building and growing what He began many years ago with Marvin & Beverly Zimmerman obeying their call to put their feet, and their family's feet, on the streets of Reading to bring the love and light of Jesus to as many people as possible! Since those humble beginnings, they've weathered their fair share of storms, but the ministry has persevered through thick and thin. Others have joined the vision and the work, and together we are pushing ahead and dreaming big! Our mission is simple; we want to see the city of Reading transformed by Jesus, one life at a time!  We are accomplishing this goal by loving God, loving people, and destroying the works of the enemy!  We fight the good fight of faith by clinging to the promise we read in Galatians 6:9, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."  Amen.
