Bike Thieves Strike With Vengeance

Bike thieves struck Lake Park this past weekend and stole nearly a dozen bikes from various homes. Officer Steve Walden and the NPD are working with Lake Park residents to mitigate future thefts. They have been leaving security notices at houses throughout Lake Park that have unlocked bikes left in front of their homes. Bicycles should be secured (especially at night) inside houses or garages.

Crime prevention tips for bike thefts:

  1. Secure all bikes in the garage or in the house, especially overnight.
  2. If that is not possible, then secure the bikes to something solid in the back yard (Take the front tires off, if possible, and store the tires inside the house).
  3. Report any suspicious persons to the NPD immediately at (239) 213-3000.

The Naples Police Department are likely to increase patrols in the community. But they are looking to Lake Park’s residents to help to secure bikes. Together, we should be able to reduce/stop the bike thefts.
