Dear DC Bilingual community,
First, we want to extend a warm welcome to our newest DC Bilingual students and families! Second, we hope that all of our families, new and returning, have or will find a bit of time to disconnect and recharge this summer. The past few months have been like no other. We recognize the strain of our nation’s social, health, and economic crises on our families. Knowing that we will soon see your children’s faces - whether online or in person – gives us so much joy and helps us to maintain our strong momentum toward a new school year.
Whether the new school year begins virtual or in-person, we are committed to offering you our school's core elements in the safest way possible – even if we have to do things differently.
In preparation, in June 2020, DC Bilingual formed ReOpen DCB, a working group composed of DC Bilingual staff, parents, and board members. Meeting weekly, the working group has and continues to research best practices and make recommendations for a successful 2020-21 school year in line with current city-wide guidelines, DC Deputy Mayor for Education recommendations, and the unique needs of our dual language model.
Here is an overview of DC Bilingual’s current plan for the 2020-21 school year. Please keep in mind that circumstances could change at any time with new rules from the government or a shift in the prevalence of COVID-19.
In addition to reviewing the plan, we ask that all families complete this questionnaire by June 20 with your preferred learning plan. Your response will help to ensure that we provide the best possible learning experience for your student(s) and family. We will inform you of your student(s) learning plan for term 1 of the 2020-21 school year by August 14.
Thank you for your continued support of our staff, students, and families. We can’t wait to welcome you with sparkling eyes on August 31.
