Topping the Charts this Summer: Bug Songs

If you love the summer soundtrack of katydids, crickets, grasshoppers and cicadas, join us for an evening with Author Dr. Carl Strang and learn the monitoring protocol of the Singing Insects Monitoring Project. Singing Insects monitors help identify where these bugs are heard, and can help by collecting data, sharing information about the program, or even making field recordings of these and other species.

At this training, offered from 7pm to 9pm at River Trail Nature Center on June 26th and at Sagawau Environmental Learning Center on June 27th, you'll practice recording songs with your smartphone or a digital recorder, and learn how to submit them to help build an insect sound map of the Chicago Wilderness Region. No experience necessary. Space is limited. Hope to see you there!
