THE WATERMELON WOMAN - RETURN TO BERLINALE

 
For its 20th anniversary, Marc Smolowitz and 13th Gen partnered with Outfest Legacy Project, UCLA Film & Television Archive, Toronto International Film Festival, and First Run Features on a pristine restoration of Cheryl Dunye's legendary Black Queer film THE WATERMELON WOMAN. The film won the Teddy Award in 1996 and makes a triumphant return to Berlinale this year for the #Teddy30 Retrospective.
  • The Watermelon Woman restoration screens on Sun. Feb. 14th, 2:00pm (Kino International) and Thu. Feb. 18th, 6:00pm (Cubix 8).

SEEKING CO-PRODUCERS & FINANCING


- BLACK IS BLUE - 


Cheryl Dunye and Marc Smolowitz are expanding their award-winning short film BLACK IS BLUE (2014, 16 minutes) into a feature. The project has received script writing support from the Tribeca Film Institute (read more.) The plan is to be in production October 2016.
