Suicide is a very sensitive but serious conversation. Even though it is hard to talk about, it is something that needs to be discussed. Remember, the first step towards change is awareness...

Suicide is not only preventable, but with the right help, recovery can lead to a full healthy life.
•  Therapy  reduces the rate of
 repeated suicide attem
pts by 50%
•  80% -90% of people that seek treatment
 for depression are tre
ated successfully
using therapy and/or medication
•   Suicide can be prevented through
education and public awareness

If you know someone thinking about suicide, ask them to talk about it. And get them help. Together you can call 2-1-1 for local support and the crisis hotline.

Welcome Lisa McMiller Harris to the HDB Steering Committee. Lisa was born and raised in the city of Delray Beach. With her passion for working with children and parents, she makes a difference in our community through her homegrown organization, Golden Parents Inc.  She and her husband, Bo Harris, are also proud business owners of UpperCutz Barber Shop and Salon in the The Set.  In the last year, Lisa was awarded a grant from HDB Build Our Blocks for "Cutz and Conversation" - community talks in the barber shop around topics of mental health.

Awareness
It's that time of the year again. With a new school year, comes busy teens spreading mental health awareness through Teen Life in HDb - in the Delray Beach schools and throughout the community.
We are excited to see where the new Teen Life in HDb Presidents, Stevencia and Lurry, lead us and what amazing ideas the Teen Life crew come up with this year.

 Access

Important to HDB is providing access and resources for families in the Delray Beach community.  Removing the barriers to behavioral heath services is vital to creating a healthier and more aware community. Thank you to Atlantic Community High School for allowing Healthier Delray Beach and partners to come to your Open House to share information and get your feedback about your needs.
Catch us on September 20th at Village Academy for their Open House.

Equity

Partner Spotlight

HDB supports our partners doing great work in Delray Beach...EJS Project is hosting student-led community conversations utilizing Restorative Practices to engage in meaningful dialogue around race equity, leadership, and positive impact strategies. These community conversations are held on the last Saturday of each month and will remain a venue for equity discussions in the Delray Beach community. So far, EJS Project has hosted 20 student-led restorative circles.  Great work!
