Dear Friends,
These are extraordinary times. The ongoing spread of Covid-19 has brought uncertainty and difficulty to many in our local community... but it has also brought out the best in people, with volunteers offering to help their neighbours who need it. As such, we thought we would take this opportunity to share details of local groups, in case you need support or can offer support to others. In addition, we have included details of local organisations (Wimbledon Foodbank, Deen City Farm and Bliss in the Park) who would welcome your support in these challenging times.

Merton Mutual Aid Group

This group is a grassroots community organising network, established to support vulnerable Merton residents during the Covid-19 crisis. Local volunteers can help with things like:

-    Picking up shopping or getting basic supplies
-    Posting mail
-    Keeping in touch via phone
-    Topping up gas and electricity meters
-    Walking your dog
-    Other reasonable requests

To find out more, get help or volunteer, please visit their website:
http://www.mertonmutualaid.net.

Wimbledon Foodbank

At this time the food supply is down but demand for the service is high. We know that many people are struggling to get food, but if you have more than you need or are able to get a few extras then you may want to consider donating to Wimbledon Foodbank. From next week they will be open Monday to Friday:

-    10am – 2pm for donations
-    12noon – 1pm for voucher holders

You can find Wimbledon Foodbank at 76 Kingston Road, SW19 1LA.

If you can’t get there but could make a donation, this is their fundraising page: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/wimbledonfoodbank

Deen City Farm

The farm has had to close to visitors, but keeping the animals fed and looked after is expensive. Deen City Farm does not charge for visits and they rely on visitors making donations to keep them going. Without any visitors, they may not be able to survive the months ahead and have appealed to the community to help. It would be such a shame to lose this lovely place which many local children have enjoyed.

If you have children at home who are experienced riders, we understand that the riding school is still open as lessons can be run at a safe distance. The school has put extra cleaning measures in place too.

South Park Gardens & Bliss in the Park

We are lucky to have this beautiful park on our doorstep and while you are at home you may want to consider a walk to enjoy this space. Bliss in the Park are planning to keep the kiosk open. In addition, they are offering some take-away meals with all produce sourced locally from fellow small businesses. They are posting more information each day on their Facebook page.

Stay healthy.
With best wishes and kind regards,
