CEDAS E-News - February 2022
Dear CEDAS Members,

It’s hard to believe that we have two months of the new year under our belts with spring on the horizon. As we approach a new season, Connecticut is bursting with activity! The health and vitality of a strong state is heavily reliant on economic development. I couldn’t be more proud to see an abundance of incredible projects being announced with great frequency.

At CEDAS, we recently closed this year’s application period for the Best Practices Program. As our team of reviewers process the applications, please look for an announcement on communities receiving accreditation in 2022 and an associated celebration to honor their work.

Additionally, we’ve also had some great programming kick off the year through an informative series with Goman & York on Economic Development Trends & Insights. With two more sessions on the pandemic’s impact on commercial real estate, and brick and mortar retail, we hope this information is proving valuable as we map out our next series.

Switching gears, member Kevin Fitzgerald has recently stepped up to lead our Policy Committee. As the legislature quickly moves through a short session this year, our Committee is tracking economic development-related bills and is ready to address any legislation that may impact our profession. Please watch for upcoming communications to membership outlining this year’s CEDAS legislative agenda. Should you be tracking any proposals that may impact your community, please reach out to CEDAS for the Committee to discuss.

Be sure to share any exciting news with our organization, so that we can continue to track and promote the strength and growth of our member-communities. As always, thank you for supporting this organization!

Best Regards,

Kristen Gorski
Economic Development Coordinator
