LEARN HOW TO PROTECT YOUR BUSINESS AGAINST FRAUD, SCAMS AND CYBERCRIME

All business is vulnerable to online hacking and cybercrime. It's one of the biggest threats to businesses of all sizes, and is growing by the day. The proof?

  • In the first six months of this financial year, £10.6 million was lost to fraud in Kent alone, with 69% of the fraud victims being businesses

Wealden Business Group (WBG) is organising a 'Fraud, Scams and Cybercrime' workshop at Little Silver Country Hotel, Tenterden, on Wednesday, 22nd March.

Speakers will include Det Insp Lee Morton from the Kent & Essex Serious Economic Crime Unit, and Jacqui Offen, a director of JJ Systems, a consultancy specialising in prevention of online attack.

Tickets, at £25 each, include full English breakfast, the two hour workshop, and a chance to stay on afterwards for coffee and networking with other delegates. To book visit goo.gl/adizRw

THE BUSINESS BENEFITS OF RHYTHM AND JAPANESE SWORDPLAY!

WBG constantly endeavours to make its Wednesday business networking businesses as enjoyable and different as possible, and that's certainly applied to two recent guest speakers.

Toastmaster and business coach David DiCara, in full Japanese swordfighting costume, explained how the art of  kendo dojo has lessons for business.

And drum master Phil Wilson, in his Inspirational Rhythms presentation,  showed how rhythm can be used as a business conference energiser and helps bond teams.

Event organiser Peta Ashby with East Kent MNDA chairman Clive Hudson

The recent WBG Race Night was a resounding success, raising more than £2,000 for the East Kent group of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, our adopted charity of the year.

More than 60 people attended, and enjoyed an evening of filmed horse races and a fish & chip supper. East Kent MNDA chairman Clive Hudson thanked members and guests for their support, while WBG chairman Justin Nelson described the event as a "terrific evening, and a really fun way to raise money for a thoroughly deserving cause".

WBG has raised more than £25,000 for local good causes in the past five years.
