Thank You for your Continued Support of Your Outdoor Ministry!
On #GivingTuesdayNow, we raised $6,985 with the help of 29 families. What a blessing!
We are grateful for your continued support of Caroline Furnace, today, yesterday, and every day. Thank you for your recent giving. Gifts like yours are enabling us to continue our ministry and outreach, even and especially during this time of uncertainty.
We are still exploring possibilities for continuing Summer Camp in some way, whether at home (virtual), on the go (mobile, local day camps), or residential (hopefully!). We look forward to welcoming our two Program Directors on site beginning next Friday, and are excited and energized by their commitment to providing an unforgettable summer. Be on the lookout for a big Summer Camp update on May 15.
We continue to book group retreats for the fall and winter, and recognize that our communities will be especially in need of time together on retreat as soon as it is safe to do so.
We encourage you to consider a special gift to Caroline Furnace during this time if you are able. Maybe you can join our 20 For 20 campaign and give $20 a month? Maybe you are eligible for a stimulus check but not reliant upon it? Maybe you received a bigger tax return than expected?
We are grateful for your continued support of YOUR outdoor ministry. We miss you and look forward to seeing you again soon!
Check it out! We made a coloring book to share with you! This coloring book is filled with old Caroline Furnace graphics from our archives - it truly fits our 2020 theme of Generation to Generation. Download the PDF at the link below.
We remain hopeful that we can welcome you back to Caroline Furnace soon! Save the date for Opening Day, June 13. This date is tentative and depends upon CDC, VDH, and ACA (American Camp Association) guidelines and state government orders. We anticipate being able to gather if we are in Phase Two by June 13.
Our three May events will be held on June 13 as outdoor, day-only events: Spring Open House, a work day (to replace Spring Work Weekend), and Faith Where You Are (day only; on-site). These events will be dispersed across our main property and will focus on outdoor activities.
SPRING OPEN HOUSE: Come and explore Caroline Furnace! Learn more about Summer Camp, retreats, site history, and more. This is a great opportunity to check out Caroline Furnace for the first time, or to learn more about news and updates if you haven't been here in awhile. For Spring Open House, meet at St. John's Chapel.
WORK DAY: There are always work projects to be done, and this is especially true after having to postpone our usual Spring Work Weekend. We'll focus on projects that either need to be finished or can be completed in just a day. Specific projects TBD. For Work Day, meet at Moyer Lodge.
FAITH WHERE YOU ARE: Let's spend time together out in God's beautiful creation, learning and discerning how our faith can thrive in our everyday. Where is your faith leading you, and how can you lead through your faith? Faith Where You Are is led by Rev. Heidi David-Young. For health and safety, the off-site canoe trip on the Shenandoah River has been moved to canoe time on our lake. For Faith Where You Are, meet at Marston.
Registration required for all three events (don't worry - it's quick!).
Pre-register on CampBrain at the link below.
Linked below is a calendar showing group retreat availability for the rest of the year. We recognize that our communities will be especially in need of time together on retreat as soon as it is safe to do so. Book soon - we want to be sure that we have space for you! We look forward to seeing you soon!

From the Pines Weekly Video Devotions Each Thursday, we are leading a brief devotion with a short reading, prayer, and quick updates. Each video is recorded from a different pine-covered spot on property. We encourage families to use this video in FAITH5.
Nature Trail Weekly Video Guide Each Tuesday, we are sharing a video from the Nature Trail. We are working to restore the Nature Trail and have updated the interpretive guide. We'll share one station each week until you can come experience it for yourself!
20 Ways to Get Outdoors for 20 Minutes or More Every day at 10am, we are sharing a fun, family friendly outdoor activity. Activities have included puddle jumping, bug hunts, trust walks, storytelling, picnics, cloudbusting, scavenger hunts, and more! We'll continue to share a new activity daily until we can be together again.
Camp Connections Did you know? We have an entire page dedicated to fun, shareable camp things! This page includes some of the things listed above, plus camp recipes, Bible studies, camp songs and chords, Summer Camp photos, and links to our Facebook and Instagram. This is a great 'starter' page to share with your communities!
We are still accepting registrations and (refundable) deposits for Summer Camp. We remain hopeful that Summer Camp will be unaffected by COVID-19 and are continuing as planned with staff interviews and camper registrations. There are many potential options for flexibility, to include extending additional weeks at the end of the current schedule. We recommend that you go ahead and register online now to reserve your space. Any decisions on Summer Camp operations will be announced on May 15th.
