Visit to Karin's Dreamtime garden

We had to cap numbers for this event, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Unfortunately, that meant that a few members we unable to attend. Fortunately, a happy group were able to attend and had a wonderful afternoon.

Our Dreamtime visit was a vibrant day, with many excited seedsavers keen to see each other again and new faces to welcome as well. After the buzz of greetings, we went for a tour. All marvelled at Karin's ginger haul and some had a go at harvesting it with a broad fork.
Karin has a productive vegie patch and lots of up and coming fruit trees. The beautiful garden surrounds a quirky house, designed for indoor/outdoor living.
The day was capped off by a garden recital by our musical hostess - a splendid day by all accounts, well worth the wait.

Thanks Karin for hosting and entertaining!

Diary Dates

Garden Visit to Gleniffer

Last Saturday in August

In these uncertain times, it is hard to plan too far ahead, lest things change. The best laid plans of mice and men etc.

We have a potential garden visit teed up for the last Saturday in August, but we will release the details closer to the time.

Some things that won't change from the last visit: participants will again have to practise social distancing, if you are feeling unwell please don't attend and there will be hand sanitiser on hand (so to speak).

Join us for our first episode! The Bello food growing podcast is starting this Thursday July 30 at 4pm.

We will be talking spring planting because, believe it or not, it's almost time! That's right, August is the month to get your spring seedlings going. Our guest expert is Pete Bufo of the community gardens fame, who is very generous with his lists of what to plant in which month for this area.

As this is a live Zoom call, we can show pictures of the plants we talk about and you get to ask live questions and clarifications. Much better than TV or radio!

Then we have an open Q&A for your seasonal growing questions, and community announcements related to food growing (spare seeds? Looking for something?). Yes it will be recorded if you can’t make the live session.

Last Thursday of every month. 4pm during winter.
Put it in your diary. Go here to register your interest to receive the Zoom link & password.

Don't forget

Our charter includes the need to save and distribute seeds and other plant propagation material

We are investigating plans to continue to distribute seeds during Australia's response to the global pandemic, even the spring plant fair does not go ahead.

However, we need everyone who has seeds available to save some for themselves and if possible some to share.

A future newsletter will provide information on how your surplus can make it into our seed bank for distribution to other growers in our region.
