BSS Seed packing day in Raleigh with Chris and Janene

We had a beautiful pre-spring day, tranquil and sunny, in a hidden part of Raleigh. Much less dramatic than our visit there, last autumn, perfect for processing and packing seed. A cheerful group of 15 or so enjoyed Chris's and Janene's verandah, entertained by an assortment of friendly furries.

Some of our talented members had greater success than expected with saving seed this year, good work!
Fantastic spot and great company, thanks to Chris and family.

Talking gardening with Phil Dudman

It was a lovely Saturday in Fernmount on Chris's and Merren's beautiful deck for our excited members, who succumbed to temptation and made an early lunch table assault. Luckily, Phil made good time coming down the coast to join in for the delicious treats 😋.

After the feasting, we all got cosy in the lounge for a Q&A slideshow; of tips and tricks, personal stories and suggestions for the good loving on citrus, papaya, restoring soil balance after a summer deluge and then a bit of a horror show on pestilence (and how to tackle those problems).
We all love the interactive visits by Phil and he felt warmly received and well fed by the Bellingen Seedsavers family
Thanks all 😊

Diary Dates

Bellingen spring plant fair

Saturday 10th of September 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

Here we go again, its spring plant fair time!

Looks like this year's back on an even keel and we're preparing an action packed seedsavers' stall for you all.
We are calling out for volunteers in the group, to help for a couple of hours on the stall between 6.30am set up and 2pm pack up. Those who've done it before know we have a great time enthusing with gardeners hungry for seeds to sow and grow. Give it a go if you're yet to join us, newbies are always teamed up with veterans.

This year's spring roster will  be scheduled by Nick Radford, so nominate your window of availability to Nick via his email by clicking here or his landline: 66554069 and he will compile the roster.

Please bring any donations of your green plant materials early on the 10th to our market stall; we'll be located as usual down by the creek. If you can't drop off early on the morning of the plant fair, Sue Willey has kindly offered to hold material. Please drop it off as close to the 10th as possible. Sue is in Bellingen, please call her on 0448 657 048 to arrange a time to drop off.

Looking forward to seeing you all again 🙂
