Adoption Update

March 20, 2017

Hi! We realize it’s been a bit since you’ve heard from us, so we wanted to send you an update.  To bring you up to speed: we’ve moved, changed jobs, and are staying busy with adoption paperwork, homework, and toddlers.

Changes Just in Time

We’ve been on a sprint the last couple months to finish up our adoption paperwork. We’ve also had to WAIT a lot on all the pieces to come together.  We had another sudden agency change in January that introduced some new things we had to dig up and fill out.  This happened just days before we were planning to submit our home study and make payment.  So, even though it seems like a hiccup, the timing was right on. We are still going with the same program in South Korea, and things might even move smoother and faster.

With these changes, we’re steadily marching along. In fact, they just indicated our home study has been approved and we can start submitting documents to Korea. We’re expecting a referral soon!

Job change

One thing that surprisingly didn’t effect our adoption was a recent job change. As you can imagine, having a stable job and income are a requirement to adopt. Well, right as we were re-doing some of our paperwork, God gave Josh a new job. . . again. It was a pretty dramatic change, and perfect timing.

A company Kim works for (called TQI/ Beracha) was offering me (Josh) a job in December. God made it clear it was okay to consider this and so we started talking through some specifics. Well, I accepted the job, got off the phone, and then immediately got another call from my employer. They said they didn’t have any more work for me and were giving me a two week notice. So in less than an hour I got two phone calls- one telling me I had a new job, and the other telling me my old job was no more. Amazing how God worked that out. And so we praise and thank God for His faithfulness, His affirmation, and His timing!
  • We are really tired of paperwork. Pray for perseverance.
  • The Winter Olympics may be taking place in S. Korea around the time we hope to be there finalizing our adoption. We'd love things to be finished before this point with no delays (but realize it's all in His timing)
  • The President of S. Korea got impeached last week. Pray for the next leader and for relationships with the US (and N. Korea).
  • We are currently exploring ways to dip back into cross-cultural outreach. Pray that God will continue to direct us in this.

Thanks so much for journeying with us.
We hope the next update you get from us will have some BIG NEWS!
We so appreciate your love, support, and encouragement.
-Much Love,
Josh, Kim, Eli, Ana (and Jireh)
