Looking Glass Views
An Artist's Newsletter - 7th Edition, May 2016
Dear friends and art lovers,
May has had a cracking start and it's only getting busier and better!
On Sunday 15 May I will be on hand, in person to share my work with you at The Magic Lamp Arts on the 7 Dials Trail, full details are on my homepage (links are below), via Artists Open Houses or just look for us opposite the Brighton and Hove Sixth Form College (BHASVIC) on the Dyke Road. The house is open 11 am - 5 pm every Saturday and Sunday in May, PLUS the Bank Holiday Monday!
Want to show your support and tell us how much you love us? Please VOTE FOR US as your favourite Brighton Artists Open House BEFORE 23 MAY. The direct link to the survey is here. We are on trail No 9, The 7 Dials Trail and our house is THE MAGIC LAMP (venue 11 if you're looking for us on the map).
On the last weekend in May, the 28th and 30th (a Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday, respectively) I will also be demonstrating the reverse glass painting technique at Amberly Museum's Traditional Crafts weekend. This will be my second year attending and I loved it last year. Also, with a small train, historic bus route and lots of artisans, artists and craftspeople displaying and demonstrating their crafts it's a perfect day out for the whole family.
In addition the Big Heart Charity Auction is ramping up their publicity and they are staging a number of exhibitions across East and West Sussex between now and the close of the auction. THE major exhibition, including ALL donated works, will open at the Brighton Dome in early July. Click here for all exhibition dates and locations. If you'd like to attend any of the private views let me know and I will try to get you on the invite list!
Then, just when you thought the fun was over, the Burgess Hill Artists Summer Exhibition will open as part of the Burgess Hill Summer Festival on the 4th of June AND I will be running an outdoor drawing workshop on Thursday, 9 June from 1-3 pm at the Woolpack Pub. For more info see pages 4 and 11 of the Festival Guide. Instructions on how to book your place on the outdoor workshop can be found on page 3 or visit the Burgess Hill Town Council Help Point to save your space. There will also be a MEET THE ARTISTS event on Saturday, 11 June from 3-4.30 at the Woolpack. It's not in the Festival Guide so mark your diaries NOW!
AND I'm sorting out dates for a reverse oil on glass painting workshop to take place on a Friday morning sometime this summer so please
email me if you'd like to join us!
With lots of love from the far side of the glass,
