It’s almost Santa’s show time,

so Merry Christmas

from the Snapping Kiwi!

Season’s greetings to all of my readers! As we approach the end of 2016, I’d like to thank my clients who have made this such an interesting year, with a diverse array of assignments and locations to work in.

I’ve traversed the globe several times, travelling over 50,000 miles to cover high-level conferences, exhibitions and other events, with equally exciting commissions here in the UK.

Highlights include my annual assignment at TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, where I photographed Randi Zuckerberg, an early Facebook pioneer, and former UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband.

My work at the Future Travel Experience Global event in Las Vegas included both photography and videography. You can view the highlights reel here.

Sports, health and fitness

Sports, health and fitness have always been a mainstay of my photography. I’ve continued my work with Baseball Softball UK this year, shooting high-level players to help promote the sport. Our desired look was produced using an off-camera flash technique and Photoshop.

The fact that it rained all day did not hinder the results! I also had the opportunity, through Promote PR, to photograph Olympic bronze medal winner Vicky Holland for British Triathlon, which resulted in a good contact with one of Vicky’s sponsors, New Balance. Meanwhile, my work for leading publisher Bloomsbury has taken in three new sports titles, raising my total to a staggering 85 titles since first working with them back in 1997.

Environmental portraiture

My portraiture has helped clients convey their messages in a myriad ways, adding another dimension to their website or ad campaign. Often working in delicate situations, my sensitive approach is appreciated by clients, and ensures the desired results are achieved with the minimum of fuss.

Round table discussions, blind tasting challenges, product shots, workshops and portraiture are all among the expanded range of events I’ve undertaken for Agile Media in 2016. Often working under low light conditions using the latest DSLR technology, I am able to capture the true atmosphere of the occasion without the disruption of lots of lighting kit.

Technique: Panning

There are a variety of ways to capture movement to add a sense of speed. By slowing down your camera’s shutter speed and moving with the subject, you will blur the background. Slow it down even more and create some art!

Happy New Year!

2016 has been a great year, with an eclectic range of assignments that have truly tested my versatility. I’m looking forward to the year ahead, with more projects in the UK and internationally to put your brand, organisation or event in the picture.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any queries, requests, or bookings and, of course, please forward this e-zine to your friends or colleagues who you feel may be interested in my services.
Have a fantastic festive break and I look forward to being of service to you again in 2017!
