Update and news 12th February 2021
Dear <<First Name>>,
Living well during a pandemic – Reflection by Janet Legg Living well co-ordinator
This time last year COVID-19 was something we heard about on the news or read about in the newspapers. Who could have predicted the impact it was to have on the world? Life at Culliford House and indeed across the country has changed beyond recognition. As a Living Well Co-ordinator, it has been a privilege along with my colleagues to provide physical, social, and emotional support to our residents and their families.
The well-being of our residents has been paramount throughout the pandemic. Keeping our residents and their relatives connected but has had its challenges. We appreciate how extremely difficult it has been for everyone and for our residents to suddenly be unable to receive visits from their loved one. We have worked hard to help maintain those crucial relationships with phone calls, facetime, skype and Facebook events, Zoom, gazebo visits and now our summer house visits. These arrangements have been ‘second best’ to ‘proper’ time.
I could not write this without asking the residents their views on how the year has gone and these are some of their comments.
“Thank you all for doing a wonderful job and keeping us safe. You are helpful to us all”.
“I miss my family”.
“I enjoy being here. Very difficult not to be able to go out in the same way”.
“I’m happy enough, it’s difficult if you can’t see your family”.
As we move towards the next phase of this pandemic with vaccinations being rolled out and regular testing taking place, restrictions being gradually being eased, hopefully, in the not-too-distant future we will be able to open our doors and be able to welcome you back. What a day that will be!!!
Please do not hesitate to contact our Visiting Co-ordinator, Marnie Moors Deputy Manager if you have any questions or concerns.
