InFocus Session 7: Cross Border & Regional Identity Management
Thursday, April 27, 2017 16:30 - 18:30
This session focuses on how identity can be used across borders either to facilitate mobility of people and the transportability of their economic support, or in circumstances when individuals are forced to escape from armed conflicts, political upheaval or natural disasters. It covers the advantages of regional cooperation on identity as well as the myriads of problems that are encountered in relation to enrolling, credentialing and verifying individuals crossing borders or those with no fixed home (nomads, refuges, etc). It places the entire challenge within the context of maintaining an efficient and secure border.
