Spring 2019 Newsletter

April 23, 2019

Spring is here, dear friends!
We've had a busy season, with teams visiting, ministry opportunities, family milestones and more.  Below you'll find the highlights from the last few months.  As always, thank you so much for being on this journey with us!

Najmladi

Dan has continued to be on the leadership team for the Pentecostal movement's young adult, or "najmladi" ministries. They had a Winter camp in February, with over 70 students attending! They enjoyed the time of fellowshipping, worshiping together and fun and games! One of the evenings, they had a "Mexican" themed night. Dan was in charge of cooking - he made fresh salsa, guacamole, and tacos. Most of the students had never had any of those, and loved getting to try new things! He also did a teaching on the importance of personal devotions, and taught the students how to S.O.A.P.

CTS Ministry Team

Many of you may know, that both Dan and Abigail attended CTS, Continental Theological Seminary in Belgium.  One of the student requirements is a week-long internship/practicum in a local ministry setting. This year we had the great privilege of hosting a team of three students from CTS during their ministry week.  Each student was given the opportunity to preach in a local church, they helped us build the set for the Puzzle ministry, cleaned the windows at the church in Ženavlje, and went on prayer walks in both Ljubljana and Ptuj. They all worked very hard, and we were thrilled to host them! Thanks to our Speed the Light vehicle, we were able to safely get them all around Slovenia! Shout out to our very own PenFlorida guy, Al Force!

Homework in Slovene

We are so thankful for Aidan's vrtec! He is doing so well in Slovene, has many friends, goes on all kinds of field trips, and is learning so many new things. Something you may not have thought of, about living cross-culturally is that all school projects and homework take so. much. more. effort - because it's in another language. Aidan recently had to do a project on his assigned country - Hungary! He will also be going on a weeklong camping trip with his class in May. Please pray for protection and lots of fun for him and the other kids, and for sanity for his brave teachers!

Thank you

Thank you for your continued love, prayer and support. We are honored to have you as our ministry partners! We pray God's blessing over you!

Church Life

The church we attend here in Ljubljana has recently started a monthly mom meet-up. Abigail has really enjoyed getting to spend time with some of the moms from our church, studying the Word together, chatting about our families, and practicing Slovene. Please be praying that this mom group would grow, and that Abigail would have the opportunity to invite more moms to attend.

Dan and Aidan are rangers - Royal Rangers, that is! Aidan has started going to Ranger meetings, and Dan is volunteering as a commander for the older kids. Next week, he will go for a 4-day training, to become a certified commander. He and Aidan are looking forward to all the fun that is in store for them. Royal Rangers is a terrific evangelistic tool to reach young families, and we're excited to be able to be a part of it!

Our Community

We love the community we live in; Aidan's preschool (vrtec), our neighbors, the people we see at the grocery store, and on the bus. These are the people that we feel called to, and we love getting to be a part of their world.  Abigail has been able to get to know some of the moms specifically.  She's been able to meet a few of them for regular coffee-dates, and has become friendly with a couple neighbors. One neighbor is on maternity leave, and has a daughter the same age as Jocelyn. She is a baker, and she and Abigail exchange baked goods, and home-made treats.  We go for weekly stroller rides with the babies, and usually have coffee at one of the apartments afterwards.  Please pray for her and her family - we are hoping and praying for an opportunity to become even better friends, invite them to church events, and share Jesus' love with them.
We also love spending time with our friends from church - below is a picture of us enjoying the beautiful weather this holiday weekend with a picnic at the park!

Family Update

Aidan and Jocelyn are doing wonderfully! Aidan is simply the best big brother, and Jocelyn adores everything he does! We are thankful that they are both in good health, and we seem to have survived colic with Jocelyn. Thank you for keeping our MKs in your prayers - we know that there is a special call on their lives, and are blessed to have people like you who lift them up before God.

Prayer Requests

Please be agreeing with us in prayer about these things:

Our friends - that we would be able to effectively share Jesus' hope with them.

Puzzle Ministry - We are almost done! We have the recording, the costumes, the set is almost built, we will get the actual physical puzzle pieces this week, and next month we have fellow missionary Winnie Horvat coming to train our team!

Europe Together - next month we will be traveling to Croatia for an all-Europe missionary conference. Please pray for traveling mercies, and a wonderful time with colleagues.
