SHE
Opening reception: Friday, June 3, from 5pm to 8pm
Quang Ho, Dan Beck, Diane Eugster, Kate Long Stevenson, Anna Sims King, Holly Irwin

-------------------

For "She," some works are representational, others more abstract interpretations of the female form. No matter the style, the subjects are women who, for some reason or other, drew the artists in. In turn, the artists hope viewers feel a similar connection to the subject. Perhaps she'll remind a viewer of an old friend; perhaps the viewer will see a little bit of herself in the subject.

We hope you'll join us Friday, June 3, from 5-8 for the opening reception! Several of the artists will be in attendance, and we'll have wine and small bites. Here's a sneak peek:

For abstract expressionist painter Kate Long Stevenson, gestural brushstrokes and a passion for color are characteristic to all of her pieces. A life-long lover of music, she relies mostly on classical compositions to guide her as she builds a painting, layering chords of color over energetic swirls of charcoal and paint.

With an extended family history of South Carolina artists, Anna Sims King has always been compelled to create. Today, gestural strokes, exploration of line, and suggested color elements build and enhance her work while unexpected color, dimension, movement, and depth drive each piece in layers of light.
