Listen up!
Fire Prevention Week!

Fire Prevention Week is October 8-14. Knowing that fire moves fast, we urge you to check out this link for some basic, but potentially lifesaving info about making an escape plan. And don’t forget: it’s a good idea to test your smoke alarm with the time change in fall and spring.

Only YOU can prevent dryer fires!

In this country, did you know that upwards of 15,000 fires are caused by clothes dryers each year, accounting for over $200 million in property damage annually? Medina-based Dryer Vent Wizard technician Chris Mader notes that a clean dryer vent not only makes your home safer, but also makes your dryer run more efficiently, resulting in shorter drying times, less energy used, and an extended dryer life. For information about dryer vent cleaning, contact Chris at 234.706.3238 or Anyone mentioning this newsletter article will receive a free inspection and/or consultation which has a $44 value.

Contest Update

The three lucky winners of our summer Facebook contest, each receiving a $15 gift card to Chill Artisan Ice Cream in Medina, were Lisa Haid, Deb Waldron and Stacie Yates.  What are we giving away next?  Here for fall, in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, one lucky winner will receive a fire extinguisher for home use.  To be in the running, all you need to do is Like on Facebook our agency Facebook page, if you’ve not already done so, by October 20.

Insurance Crime-Fighters?

When Dan Hunter was a little kid, he used to think it was cool that his dad was an “agent.” Think “007” or “Mission: Impossible” or the Johnny Rivers song “Secret Agent Man.” In actuality, insurance people DO get into the crime-fighting business. Westfield Insurance Company, one of our agency’s partner companies for 55 years, was recently recognized by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for donating two bait vehicles which will be used around the state to catch car thieves in the act. “We know if individuals are involved in car thefts, they are also involved in other crimes as well,” said Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol Superintendent. “By stopping car thieves, we can deter criminal activity before it reaches our communities.”
