Principal's Message

Dear Sea Lion Families,

On behalf of McGaugh’s teachers and staff, I want to wish you the best of the holiday season and a relaxing, healthy, happy new year. We greatly appreciate the support of parents and community members partnering with us to provide our Sea Lions an enriching educational experience.

We have so much to celebrate as we embark on the holiday season! I would like to thank several very important groups/organizations that give so much to McGaugh and our Sea Lion students. Through many fundraising efforts, and donations Projects SEEK donated around $120,000 to support our art teacher Miss Anya Capone, our stem teacher, Mrs. May Samari, and our media center tech Mrs. Robin Jenks. This annual donation allows our Sea Lions to have weekly art class, a biweekly book check out program, and biweekly STEM class, highlighting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Our PTA has donated up to $90,000 to McGaugh Sea Lions for many additional programs otherwise not available, including grade level field trips, assemblies, lunch covers, musical instruments, PE equipment, books for students and teachers, and the list goes on and on.

LEAF is continuously donating to all schools within the Los Alamitos School District. This year LEAF donated $5,000 for our wellness center.

In addition, McGaugh has received several grants this year. We received a $500 grant from the Huntington Harbor Philharmonic Society for our music program. We also received a grant of $8,000 from the Cotsen Foundation toward professional development for our McGaugh teachers. And finally, we received a $5,000 grant from LAEF for the STEM program at McGaugh.

Most importantly I want to thank our Sea Lion families for participating in the many fundraisers and donating to our auctions, throughout the year, that go towards all of these donations. Your donations, in addition to the countless voluntary hours you put in to organizing, spearheading, and advertising these fundraisers and events make it all possible. These donations and grants open up the world to each and every one of our sea lions. From the bottom of my heart. I am eternally grateful for all you do for Seal Beach and McGaugh Elementary School.
