Principal's Message

Hello Sea Lion Families,

We are so happy to announce that Mrs. McClellan has been chosen by the McGaugh teachers as our LAEF “Teacher of the Year”. She couldn’t be more deserving, and we couldn’t be more excited. She has a contagious excitement about learning, and she goes the extra mile to help students understand and grow. In her 34 years at McGaugh, she has been an advocate for kids and teachers, a mentor, and a leader. She has served as an LAEA representative and Union President. She brought new and innovative curriculum to the forefront for students and teachers. Teaching poetry, scientific inquiry, and writing are her gifts, among many others. Finally, she puts her all into kids! She loves them and meets them where they are both academically and socially. She is a deep thinker that is always there to collaborate and listen. Teachers say, “Lisa is our confidant, our champion, our heart.” Her parents say, “Mrs. MC, you are truly deserving of this honor, and we appreciate the work you do with our children day in and day out!” Mrs. McClellan loves with all her heart. Please join us in congratulating her in this honor!

Imagination Machine Story Winners!!

Congratulations to the students who had their stories turned into performances at our Imagination Machine assembly last week.

What is The Imagination Machine? Students at McGaugh Elementary get the opportunity to be creative and write a short story, either on their own or in collaboration with other students. These stories are then sent in to The Imagination Machine, who reads ALL of these stories, and selects the stories to turn into performances. Our students get the opportunity to attend an assembly, thanks to PTA, and watch their classmates' stories turned into performances for all to enjoy! The students who have their stories selected are not aware until this very moment. It is such a fun assembly, and a long-standing tradition at McGaugh Elementary.

This year's stories selected were written by

1st Grade:  Adeline Cheung
1st Grade: Harper McQuiston
2nd Grade: Lili Nomavuka
2nd Grade: Ellis Daughdrill
3rd Grade: Ben Hauser, Carter Son, and Jeremy McQuown
3rd Grade: Lyla Shuck
