Principal's Message

Dear McGaugh Families,

Thank you so much to those that participated in Ugly Sweater BINGO on Wednesday night. I was such a fun evening. I can’t think of a better way to contribute to the Art and STEM programs at McGaugh, then playing BINGO with our Sea Lion families. We played BINGO, listened to holiday music, and had an ugly sweater contest. I can’t thank Project SEEK enough for hosting. And thank you to all our families for participating in such a fun night supporting the art and STEM programs. I already can’t wait for next year!

I also want to thank PTA, Seal Beach Police Department, Lieutenant Nick, and Yosa for a highly educational presentation on surviving gun violence on Thursday night. Lieutenant Nick and SBPD shared the importance of safe gun storage in the home, the steps to survive gun violence, as well as how to render first aide to others. McGaugh Elementary is beyond lucky to have an amazing partnership with SBPD. I feel safe every day knowing McGaugh is their #1 priority.

SEA LION SPIRIT DAY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16TH

Please join the McGaugh Staff this Friday for a holiday spirit wear day.

 CELL PHONES/CELLULAR WATCHES REMINDERS

Cellular phones and watches, cameras, and video recorders (often one in the same) are not to be seen or heard during school hours (7:50 a.m. – 2:20 p.m.).  Students may use these devices off-campus before or after school.  However, they must be off and stowed in a backpack (not a pocket) as soon as the bell rings at 7:50 a.m. Cell phones and watches, or video cameras seen or heard during the instructional day will be confiscated, sent to the main office, and only released to parents at the end of the school day.   Photographing or videoing other students or staff on campus is not allowed.  Devices will be confiscated if they are used for this purpose without consent from administration.  It is not appropriate to text or call your child during the school day. Please contact the office if you need to get a message to your child. Texts and phone calls are disruptive to the learning environment.

If your child carries a cell phone/watch for safety purposes, please be reassured that you can contact the school's main office in case of an emergency.  We can immediately put you in touch with your child if needed.

These policies must be in place to protect the school-learning environment from constant interruptions and distractions in an increasingly digital and connected age.  Thank you for your cooperation in these matters.
