Principal's Message

Dear McGaugh Families,

December is here, and so is our new wellness initiative for the month. This month’s Wellness Initiative is focused on Mindfulness.  The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) has linked mindfulness to two core social-emotional skills: self-regulation and self-awareness. These skills teach us not only how to recognize their thoughts, emotions, and actions, but also how to react in positive ways. Practicing mindfulness on a consistent basis has been shown to help alleviate anxiety and depression.

Elementary Wellness Counselors will be introducing meaningful activities that promote and give students tools for managing their emotions.  The push in SEL lessons will focus on feelings; specifically identifying our own feelings and emotional management. The Wellness Center will also have mindful coloring available with Snowflake Mandalas.

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL MEETING:
You are invited to the McGaugh’s school site council meeting on January 18th ay 2:45pm. It will be held in the Media Center. We will be reviewing McGaugh School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). All are welcome to attend.
