A Child's Haven treats children with developmental delays as a result of limited resources, abuse, or neglect, and provides support and education for their families.

Well in the last few days the first signs of summer have certainly been apparent.  In addition to the nice warm weather moving into June, we get to look forward to Flag Day June 14, Father’s Day June 19, and the official first day of summer June 20! Summer time means the kids are out of school and families will enjoy summer vacations.  But remember our program here at A Child’s Haven is year round.  Our children will continue to enjoy therapeutic activities with water play; our gardens are almost ready to begin our harvest and we are excited to be adding some new features to our natural playground!  Also, thanks to a generous donor of pajamas for all of our children, all of our classrooms are having a pajama party and movie day on June 24th! It is a great time to escape the heat and come in for a tour, catch a movie with our children and see what other exciting activities our talented staff is planning this summer.  It is also a good time to volunteer as many of our staff takes vacation and we can use more volunteers to help us out with our summer activities!

Our friends in the Dandelions, Lilies, and Buttercups enjoyed a field trip to a goat farm earlier this month.  They had the chance to see a goat being milked, a baby goat being bottle-fed, and the goats’ “bedroom” where they sleep at night.

From large ferocious lions to cute baby monkeys, our friends in the Caterpillars and Hummingbirds were able to see and learn about many species of animals on a recent trip to the Greenville Zoo. The kids even saw Tatu, the new baby giraffe that resides at the facility. We were excited to have many helpful volunteers join us for our fun trip.

After several weeks of stories, art projects, and fun science lessons, most of our friends had the opportunity to visit Beechwood Farms. Their exciting trip down at the strawberry patch started with a tractor pull over to the fields. Then, the students were able to explore and pick as many strawberries as they could find to fit in their pint sized container. Our kids did such a great job picking and were so thankful to have been able to embark on such an exciting adventure.
