Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are writing this letter to address the recent issues and allegations you may have seen in the news recently regarding sexual abuse against football players in their younger years, by their coaches. The aim of this letter is to reassure you that our club follows all League and FA regulations regarding Safeguarding Young People and that your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us, just as it has always been.
As a club we are totally disgusted at these disclosures and only hope that the victims get the justice they deserve. We commend the courage it has taken for these men to come forward and we are grateful to them for making this horrific situation public, so that we can all do the best to protect children involved in any type of sport or extra-curricular activity, to the best of our ability.
We would like to remind that every single person involved in Cadbury Athletic Juniors F.C. (Coaches, Managers and Committee) all have an enhanced DBS check which is kept on file and updated. Our Coaches and Managers are also required to go on Safeguarding and First Aid Courses as part of the Level 1 FA Coaching badge. This training is renewed annually. We are very much expecting these courses to change and adapt in the next few years and we will keep everyone updated as and when these developments happen.
Safeguarding is about protecting the child just as much as it is about protecting the adults involved and we would like you to be rest-assured that this is at the forefront of everything we do. All we want and work for is for children to come play and enjoy the game of football in a safe, secure and fun environment.
The FA has asked us to inform you that they have commissioned a special help-line, working in partnership with the NSPCC, relating to these allegations. So should you, or anyone else has any concerns then please do not hesitate to call 0800 023 2642.
We would also like to remind you that as a club we also have our own fully comprehensive Safeguarding Young People Policy which all adults involved in the club in a Managing, Coaching or Committee capacity are aware of. If you would like a copy of this policy, then please email secretary@cajfc.co.uk.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and we hope that you feel that we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of your child whilst playing the game they love. If you ever have any queries or questions, then please do get in touch by emailing secretary@cajfc.co.uk.
Yours Sincerely,
The Committee
