Edition 2/2016

From the CEO

Our second newsletter for 2016 contains useful information for GP supervisors and practice managers, and EV registrars across Eastern Victoria.

Staff from our two offices will descend on Pakenham in April to participate in team-building activities and to celebrate 100 days as a new organisation. This continues our theme of two offices, one region. Importantly it provides our staff with the opportunity to engage face to face and share ideas on how best to support our GP training program.

Message from the Chair

Since Eastern Victoria GP Training was registered in July last year, the Board has been busy setting up the governance framework for the organisation. We have appointed David Glasson our CEO, ratified all governance polices, identified our main risks and legislative compliance requirements, set up three committees of the Board, determined our key performance indicators and confirmed our strategic plan.

Medical Education News

Congratulations to all of our registrars who were successful in the recent AKT examination.
Training policies
I attended a meeting with the Directors of Training from other RTOs recently. There was a very positive and collaborative spirit, despite everyone being extremely busy with regional training delivery. The implications of new AGPT and Colleges’ policies for registrars was discussed at length. More

The newly formed accreditation panel had their first meeting in March. Several practices were due for reaccreditation and several new supervisors were accredited at the time. The panel will also be looking at the process for accreditation and reaccreditation and the issues that arise as we work towards a uniform process for EV.
