Dumpster Monster

Don’t miss the Dumpster Monster installation on Friday, April 7, from 12-4PM between Polk Place and the Undergraduate Library as part of UNC’s first annual campus-wide Arts Everywhere Day.

Beauty Through Toxicity

Check out the new Beauty Through Toxicity exhibit in the Student Union art gallery. Local artist Denise Hughes creates large murals of sea creatures threatened by plastics in the ocean using plastic bottle caps. In support of the University’s Three Zeros Initiative’s Zero Waste to Landfill goal, she has created a new mural featuring the Old Well. A closing reception with the artist will occur April 20 from 6-7 pm.

UNC-OWRR - Waste Diversion Coordinator

UNC’s Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling is hiring a Waste Diversion Coordinator to support the University’s goals in striving towards zero waste. The coordinator will develop, implement, monitor and expand comprehensive recycling and composting programs across all areas of campus. This position closes April 20.

Academic Opportunity

MPA@UNC Dual Degree Webinar

For students considering the dual degree program between the environmental studies undergraduate major and the Masters in Public Administration, an April 11 webinar about the online MPA will be of interest. Glenn Barnes, associate director of the Environmental Finance Center (EFC) within the School of Government will discuss how the EFC is working to strengthen the finance and management of almost 150,000 publicly regulated drinking water systems in the country.
