Just a reminder that club membership for 1st October 2016 to 30th September 2017 is now due! Thank you to everyone who has already registered.  Any new runners to our club our welcome to come along to a couple of sessions or group runs before becoming members.
Membership Fees:
$35.00 per year Standard Adult Membership
$25.00 per year Concessional Membership (students, persons under 18 or over 65).

River City Runners (RCR) is affiliated with Queensland Athletics (QA). To make it easy for you to become a QA member and RCR member at the same time, membership is paid online through the QA website. QA membership fees and RCR fees are packaged together into one simple online transaction. Go to link below and select River City Runners as your club.
Please note $10.00 of the total amount of your fees goes to QA and covers the below listed benefits;

The Toohey Trail run proved popular with members again this year and a big thank you to Grove Juice and their sponsor ship.   The new half marathon distance offered twice the pain of the 10k event, being two loops of the later.  A hill well placed to saturate the legs with lactic acid gave many a reason to walk but we still saw some great results.  Cale, Steve, Maria and Muriel all finished first in their age categories with Cale roasting his Father by two minutes.

The next installment of our summer night runs is nearly here, Chris Simon and myself have tested the course and the pub meals for everyone. 

Wednesday night is $15 Chicken Parmigiana Night at the Red Brick Hotel but be warned you will need a mighty appetite to finish these beauties.  The course casts a different light on Dornoch Terrace but the Chicken Parmy is worth the run. 
Save the date so that we can get together to enjoy champagne, cocktails, champagne cocktails, or other drink of choice.
The plan is to meet at Alfred and Constance between 6 - 6.30pm ( then move on to Eleven rooftop bar where we have a booking at 7.30pm (

Please let Heidi Gould know if you are able to attend by Saturday 22nd October as I will need to confirm numbers for Eleven.  There may even be dancing later on if we are able to stay awake long enough! I hope to see you there.

The amazing Gibraltar Range National Park laid await for some runners on the weekend, non judgemental and welcoming the trails are as good as the views. 
By all accounts an enjoyable trip was had by all who went this year.

Have you got Old Shoes to Recycle

Have you got running shoes that you no longer use but don’t want to throw  in the bin?  They can be put to good use.  Shoes play such an important role in everyone’s lives – can you imagine not owning a pair?
Many people have nothing to keep their feet warm and clean and we can all do our little bit to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Please help us to deliver your shoes as quickly as we can by following the guidelines below;

  • SPORTS SHOES only please.
  • NO HOLES AND GOOD SOLES. It is not worth shipping shoes to an orphanage in Southern Africa if they are broken! We want to send shoes that will last a whole winter.
  • CLEAN! Would you like to receive a dirty pair of shoes? They can be hand scrubbed or washed on a short cold cycle in the washing machine. Best dried in the sun stuffed with newspaper – no tumble trying please as it destroys the shoe.

Jodie can collect shoes from people if that is more convenient.  “I will have a box in my car.  I am usually at QSAC on Tuesday mornings and sometimes Saturday.”
