Business Cards: RIP?

If Mark Twain was around today and asked about business cards, he might throw one of his most famous quips at you. “The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”

Business cards are alive and well, thank you – just as Mark Twain was at the time when rumors circulated about his demise. America’s legendary humorist never said that, anyway. It’s an “urban legend.” You can think about the supposed decline of business cards the same way.

Nearly 27.4 million business cards are printed in the United States every day. That flies in the face of a business tool just a few heartbeats away from extinction. They do have competition. Will the ubiquitous smartphone send business cards the way of the dodo? It might happen in time, but right now those tiny billboards that fit in the palm of your hand remain powerful promotion tools.

Below we share some of the ways creative professionals are using business cards to their advantage today. And with “convention season” upon us, we thought we’d pass along some of our tips for getting the most out of the next convention you attend.

Hope you enjoy what’s in store,
